The Brute and BP Food Porn

Yesterday, I found myself losing my temper about a few things. The first thing that really miffed me was B. deciding to vote for….. Santorum?? I don’t know exactly who he is voting for, but it is in fact, a throw away vote. Actually, it’s not; it’s a vote for the very man he’s been bi***ing about for 3 ½ years! I got a bit tickled at his quote that I read this morning:

“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.”
–John Quincy Adams

If Adams knew the state of affairs today, would he not be singing a different tune on his sweet reflection? B. says that Romney and Obama are the same because they share the same ideology. He could be right. However; I feel it highly unlikely that Romney will so flagrantly disregard policy as Obama has done. B. has said as much. Let me see if I can find the comments (plays Muzak…..) In this “clip”, Texas and B. are speaking on this administration and how it openly speaks of its agenda and has no worries about its consequences. Here we go:

Texas: We all should be worried why they believe they are now SAFE.

B. Not that the lefties care, but Beck told everyone they would start doing this when they felt they were finally past the point where we couldn’t do anything about them.

Guess what, Pal Joey? You’re damn sure not doing anything about them! Neither is G., Wills or SBJ! So go ahead and vote on principle because if you think a knight in shining armor is going to come along in 2016 and save us, I believe you’ve got another think coming.

When you let an ideology spin out of control, it is just that; uncontrollable. The very methods used to get such a progressive man in the most important position of the US are the same methods that can and most likely will be used to completely change or ratify our country’s laws as we know them. Don’t listen to me, though; I’m just an hysterical girl. I’m sick of banging my head against the brick wall, so I guess I’ll just see you in the bread line………… or the funny papers.

Moving right along, the other thing I was a bit perturbed by was hearing a comment by M. (emphasis mine):

Utah: The EPA can pretty much bring anything to a halt but the biggest issue is the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE), formerly the Minerals Management Service (MMS). These are the folks who issue the permits and the regs for exploration and production. Obama fired all the people who had industry experience and put a bunch of lawyers in charge. As a result, the organization has ground to a halt because there are no people left who understand the industry…they have taken “just say no” to a higher level that ever thought possible.

On the one hand, it was great that Obama and Michelle came here because the media did quite a number on destroying the reputation of the gulf coast (the fishermen I’ve spoken to are still feeling the effects.) On the other hand, the handling of the spill seemed to be quite bungled (it’s the govt., though, so what does one expect? )

It angers me that people fear our high octane seafood. At another site, some folks wanted me to post what I’ve been cooking. It’s funny, because a lot of it is gulf seafood. Hmmm…is that why I’m half nuts? How’s about some food porn, baby? It’s all good…

I was craving grouper, so I baked grouper with some sort of garlic sauce and couscous with peas…

Then I wanted shrimp so I made shrimp Creole.

Wasn’t satisfied, so I had to have some bay scallops. So I did some sort of breading and baked them and green beans..

I really wanted to try this snapper Livornese recipe. I did it with some spanish rice.

The boys complained about my pescatarian pecadillos, so I relented with steak fajitas…

Hey! I made them happy… now it was time for more fish! I should’ve plated these as they don’t look as pretty in the packet (oh, pardon me! En papillote!) and you can’t see all the colourful veggies (squash, onions, peppers, mushrooms, potatoes) Oh, well, it was tasty nonetheless.

For mom’s birthday we all made a side. I made Mexican corn….

I prefer corn grilled in the husk. I’m noticing that the fancier I get with cooking, the more I actually prefer the simple (less is more.) Remind you of anything?

  1. If Adams knew the state of affairs today, would he not be singing a different tune on his sweet reflection?

I’ll tell you how Adams would have reacted to our nation today:

BTW: YOU are throwing YOUR vote away – not me. ;-)

  2. Er – what was this post about; wasted votes, the Obamas and the BP oil spill response, or what you like to cook and your family likes to eat? Porn? I missed that completely.

  3. You were correct floridacracker; the post was a bit disjointed. But once Kells gets on a rant it’s best to let her have her way.
The food porn was interesting; you know you are getting old when pictures of food excite you more than one’s of beautiful women. Though Utah it is time for another Rule 5.

    • Ross, there are good reasons for such a preference…
      1) Food never has a headache
2)Food is easy to get hot
3)When you’re through, you can just get up and leave without drama

  4. Sorry. My mind goes off on tangents. It probably didn’t help that I was chatting on the phone while putting it together. Guess I should just post the shots my husband took when I had the bikini mishap….I really hate that I gave Carl Grey Park a free show.

  5. We hate that we missed the show, Kells. However, from all the rumors I have heard about Carl’s Gay Park over the years, It wasn’t you, but the cameraman that the fellas there were checking out

    • Agreed. I always heard of it referred to as Carl “Gay” Park.

This vote’s for you Kells. You still can’t get me to jump on that broken down bandwagon of dreams though. I’ve seen you and your boys on here use terms like, “if it walks like a duck……and “birds of a feather….” So why doesn’t it apply in this case?

      • I’ve used the analogy of Dave Ramsey’s book, “Baby Steps” It actually kinda fits because Mr. Ramsey writes on how to get out of debt, and the next president could very well be a baby step in that direction. The current president will only dig the hole deeper. Spend, spend, spend! (The one thing Ramsey advises to not do to get out of debt.) He has a great quote: “If you will live like no one else, later you can live like no one else.”

Just as M. pointed out in his post, this administration is itchin to spend……………..our money, that is.

        • “Just as M. pointed out in his post, this administration is itchin to spend……………..our money, that is.”

Well if repubs hold the house and take the Senate, as M also said, then we won’t have to worry no matter who’s administration it is now will we because Lord knows it’s been that way in the past.

            • Well we definitely agree on your last sentence.

This is where we’re at Kells: These guys have been playing partisan hardball for so long a simple majority isn’t going to rule anything at this point. Sensible bills won’t get passed because of it. I mean, you can have all the predictions of who’s gonna win and that’s great, but a majority of either party in DC has never stopped the spending. So forgive me if I don’t think because Romney wins all of a sudden everything would be alright. And if you thought that, you’d voted for him in 2008 but you didn’t. I see Bush’s 4th term.

Yes, Kells, you and I both know the Romney would veto the MMA act of 2003 that contained that monstrosity known as Medicare D. Or do you consider that Act sensible? I know Billy Tauzin and about 40 other congressional staff members did since they jumped ship right after they guided it through congress and went to work for big pharma as soon as GWB signed it.

              • In 2008, I voted Huckabee then McCain. I have no illusions that everything under a Romney presidency will be “alright”, however; I’m more than willing to switch out the pitcher at this point. Will the team be any better? I can’t fathom it being any worse.

How do you know he would veto it? And no, it is not sensible in my opinion.

One day, I’m going to crash one of your lil hot tub parties……….and you will rue the day, Wills. Yes, you will be sorry!

              • “Romney would veto the MMA act of 2003″

How? The president can’t veto existing law–Congress would have to pass a new law overturning it, which he could then sign.

  6. I feel honored to be in the same sentence as B. … Kells strong feelings B. Must be that pic she saw of me…. I’m trying to get another pic, but my partner isn’t cooperating…

Porn, I just ate lunch, and now I’m hungry all over again….

Voting? when there is only 1 choice, one can only go one way….Can’t vote for the O. Keep the faith Kells.

    • Silly boy! You’re the strong-feelings-for-B. boy not I. That said, I’d love to see another shot of you.
I can’t believe you just told everyone here that you had afternoon delight for lunch!! Quite frankly, I’m shocked!
Oh, and I shall keep the faith…..
