The good news is that my son is OK. The bad is that my Z is a total loss.
According to witnesses, an Orange County deputy blew through a red light and t-boned my son, who had just pulled into the intersection after stopping at the light. We are lucky the impact was in front of the driver’s seat and the engine bay and the firewall took the bulk of the stress. He has a concussion and his right arm was hurt by the airbag deployment but we are very lucky that is all.
If it had happened just a fraction of a second later, the impact would have been directly on the driver’s door.

Look at what the police car says. I’m sorry that kind of cracked me up, and I know I shouldn’t be laughing, but I can’t help it. Thank God your son is alright.
Don’t worry, I thought the same thing…they really “made a difference” here!
GLad the Lord was watching over him.
And the engineers who invented airbags…
Ah, the double-edged sword of auto safety. Yes, they are life-savers, but they work better for full-grown males than the fairer sex.
Glad your son is ok. Sorry for the loss of your car.
Thanks, I loved it slightly less than I love him. Looks like I have an excuse to get my BMW Z4M now.
I do not know what is next on my bucket list of cars. Seems a waste these days.
Oh well, there is always my quickly approaching mid-life crisis to capitalize upon.
Hope your son is ok.
I’m sure you are aware it can take 6-12 months or longer before damage to the back/neck can show up. MRI and
keep an eye on him.
