Against The Wind

Well, it finally happened.  I’m here.  Rarely have I had the urge to actually originate a thread on TRNL, but when I have wanted to post, I’ve been frustrated because I didn’t have a voice here.  A couple of days ago, I asked Utah to allow me to post here and he agreed.  I will do my best not to embarrass him or myself.  My posts will be of a more general nature.  You guys have the political end of this pretty well covered, but then again, you can never tell what I will have to say.

A little about myself.  I’ve been posting with many of the people here since the good ol’ days of the News Herald forums.  I’m 60 years old, married (4th time) and am a native of and live in Jackson County Florida.  I’m a state correctional officer sergeant in Jackson County and my wife is a Bay County school teacher.  We split our off time between PCB and Marianna and are empty nesters.  We are both conservatives.  I describe myself as a moderate conservative (sorry Black) and my wife is further to the right than I am.  We do butt heads occasionally.

I look forward to posting with you all.  Now I just have to learn how to use this thing.

  1. No need to apologize. Welcome to the fray. Now be warned, it won’t be long before James labels you as “lying liar who lies.” After all, YOU said you were conservative, and James hasn’t met a conservative yet who he could bring himself to say was speaking the truth, so… you lying liar who lies, you!

(pssst, FC, I’m just giving you an inoculation. After the first 3-4 times, you sort of don’t notice it anymore, so now, when James does it to you, you won’t even be aware of it ;-) )

    • You’re lying again, Joe. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. :-) And you are wrong.

But in fact I have liked and even admired some conservatives. I thought William F. Buckley was brilliant and that Barry Goldwater may have been our most honest politician. I think Pat Buchanan is generally honest, and I once thought the same about John McCain. I’ve voted repeatedly for my state’s conservative Republican secretary of state, a man of great integrity.(I’ve met the latter three, and found all of them to be gracious guys even though I disagree often with them.)

And of course virtually all conservatives–even you–tell the truth at least some of the time. :-)
