Did you watch the clip? I hope so, because this next part won’t make any sense if you didn’t. Ask yourself this question: If Rush Limbaugh had said this exact same thing only in reverse, do you think he would still have a job? The answer is: not likely — because even his audience would turn on him. But the people who dislike Limbaugh do not believe that because they do not listen to Rush, they listen to Bill Maher. They do not agree with Limbaugh, they agree with Bill Maher. They do not support Rush, they support Bill Maher. But the worse thing about all of this is the people supporting Bill Maher cannot see their own hypocrisy. They think that everything they do can be and should be excused by gratuitously and disingenuously adding the words “just kidding” to the end of any offensive comment they make (a license they never grant to their opponents, by the way)
And that, my friends, is the 180 degree rule on display for all the world to see.
