18th Century Chateau Completely Bulldozed “By Mistake.”

Ouch.

I was just commenting about what a slow and uninteresting news week it has been so far. Taxes going up, spending, too, falling of cliffs, Joe being a racistbigotislamophobe – crap like that.

Nothing but darkness, gloom and yes, DOOM!

My head hurts to think about how much everything just sucks right now…even this – I saw this yesterday but was too depressed to post it.

This really sucks:

Residents of a sleepy French village in Bordeaux have been left dumbfounded after discovering their 18th century chateau was completely bulldozed “by mistake.”

Workers hired to renovate the grand 140,000-square-foot manor and raze a small building on the same estate in southwest France mixed them up, the mayor’s office in Yvrac said yesterday.

“The Chateau de Bellevue was Yvrac’s pride and joy,” said former owner Juliette Marmie. “The whole village is in shock. How can this construction firm make such a mistake?”

Local media reported that the company misunderstood the plans of the current owner, Russian businessman Dmitry Stroskin, to clean up the manor and restore it to its former baroque glory. Stroskin was away and returned home to discover his chateau, a local treasure boasting a grand hall that could host 200 people, was nothing but rubble.

“I’m in shock . . . I understand the turmoil of the community,” Stroskin was quoted as saying. He told them he plans to build an exact replica of the lost manor on the site.

Even for a Russian oligarch, that has to bite in the old pocketbook.

The London Times said that the “destruction” crew was Polish – there has to be a joke in there somewhere but I can’t seem to climb out of the suckage long enough to find it.

  1. Hey! I’m Polish (well, Russian Pole, but still, see the last name?) :-)

    Utah,

It’s not “doom and gloom,” it is an opportunity to grow closer to God. He is our only hope of rescuing ourselves from our own mess. So, we either keep trying to dig ourselves out of our hole (in which case, we are still digging deeper in attempt to get out), or we turn BACK to Him and beg His intervention in these matters.

Hand in there, brother. He’s got this :-)
