I was just watching some videos of the union violence in Michigan and was somewhat unsurprised by a few things:
The union members are mad about “free loaders” or “free riders”. These are non-union members who supposedly benefit from the deals that the union bargaining unit cut with management. They want to force people who have no interest in what the union does to join and pay dues – even though the unions are not required to bargain for anyone who doesn’t join (but if you don’t, they still require you to pay dues). The unions want to continue to compel the automatic collection of dues because they need that to keep the money flowing. Unions have become like our government, self-aware and primarily interested in their own survival and expansion. Anything resembling an actual benefit is purely coincidental.
In a way, I can understand how they feel, I feel the same way about my tax money and Obamacare. It is funny how these moron thugs can justify getting worked up about “free riders” and then vote as a block for the political party of free riders, the Democrats.
Cognitive dissonance.
The news coverage and the liberals in media who either ignore the violence or excuse it – Fox contributor, Steven Crowder, was physically attacked and the media ignores it or like Bob Beckel on The Five – or the union spokestool that Hannity had on his show last night – say that it is a “isolated incident” or “not representative” of the entire protest. After 4 years of protests, we are still hearing the repeated the accepted and media endorsed “fact” that Tea Party protests are violent and there were racist epithets thrown as black congressmen during the protests over Obamacare when there is no evidence of it at all. Andrew Breitbart’s $100K reward for an audio or video recording of the racial slurs goes unclaimed over two years later, yet we have the tapes from the protests in Wisconsin and Michigan to prove that violence and the use of racial epithets (the black hot dog vendor in Michigan was called a nigger as the union thugs destroyed his stand) does happen in union protests.
Tea Party – violent, extreme and racist. Unions – sweet, demure and egalitarian.
Confirmation bias.
A union stooge claiming that wages go down in states with RTW (right to work) policies. When the facts show that they do not – as a matter of fact, there are several non-RTW states where, when the cost of union dues are deducted, the salaries are actually LOWER than RTW states.
Selective memory/political amnesia.
Aha! The three pillars of “progressivism”! There’s the reason for all the illogical behavior – they are “progressives”!
I’m not pro- or anti-union. Unions do have a value but I am for the individual making the choice and for unions to have to prove their value to their members. Their members shouldn’t be shackled to some sort of perpetual motion machine that they can’t change.
Curiously, those feelings mirror those of mine toward government.

The unionists are being violent about the prospect of carrying free riders. Yet the welfare state, a conspiracy to create free riders, is a primary goal of the democrat political coalition they are a key part of.
There is a cognitive dissonance.
It is not a dissonance if you assume that their overriding objective is to control everything via controlling all the money.
