I just can’t understand why there are people who are so filled with hate for a religion that is not forced on anyone, teaches that each person can accept or reject it, requires no one to attend services or give money unless they feel compelled of their own conscience to do so, preaches against homosexuality/doesn’t stone homosexuals, exalts the Holy Mother of Christ instead of wrapping her in a burka, converts through changing the heart instead of running a sword through it and is based on unconditional love guided by ten tenets that are recognized as perhaps the most universal concepts of “goodness” in the history of mankind – but they just can’t help being evil:

With a picture of Santa Claus above another image of Jesus Christ, the sign, sponsored by New Jersey-based American Atheists, urges passersby to “Keep the Merry!” and “Dump the Myth!” Attacks on Christianity from the group have become routine, and in the bustling heart of America’s busiest city, most folks don’t even waste a shrug on the sign. But some took notice, and did not approve.
“It’s a damn shame. It’s an insult,” said Anthony White, 41, a of Jersey City, N.J. said. “Why did they have to put that up?”
David Silverman, president of American Atheists, had an answer, though not one likely to please the faithful.
“Most Christians are really atheists who feel trapped in their family’s religion,” Silverman told FoxNews.com. “They need not be Christian to enjoy the holiday season.”
Silverman said a private donor paid more than $25,000 to have the billboard posted above a nightclub in the crossroads of the world for one month, ending Jan. 10, 2013.

Seems to me that they could be atheists all they want without attacking Christianity where, unlike Islam, the greatest public risk is overhearing a street preacher or having a Mormon missionary or Jehovah’s Witness knock on your door.

In CA you can attack Christians all you like. If I dare to say Merry Christmas to someone while I’m shopping in San Francisco I may be reprimanded or even spit on, even if I’m speaking to a friend or relative. Three years ago a friend from the Midwest came to spend a week at Christmas with us and she wanted to do Xmas things. I explained SF doesn’t really do as much for Xmas anymore, but we took her downtown SF to see the store windows and the Xmas tree and Menorrah in Union Square and we were done. However, she wanted to shop for Xmas ornaments. We walked all over inquiring about Xmas trim and we were finally shown to a small, card table sized area of a few Xmas ornaments at Bloomies. She was disappointed that her much smaller Midwestern city had more to offer than SF. Don’t think the rest of the country yet realizes that soon any public celebration of Christmas will be a thing of the past. The progs plan is to erase Christianity off the face of America, forever.
In the interest of full disclosure, i should mention that although I was raised Catholic I am now what you’d call a lapsed Catholic. The last time I was in a church was in 2006 when I attended a special Mass at the Church my great grandfather helped build.
There used to be stores off of union Square that specialized in Christmas Trim…..also On Union Street and off of Filmore in Pacific Heights……Imported European Glass Ornaments…..It was a very Special special time of year going from store to store…..we still have Ornaments fron Czechoslovakia, Candles from France and Ornaments from Italy and Germany…..and of course Radko.

I lived in Pacific Heights, the Sunset, and Burilngame. For all the touting that they do about living out west, one seems to have more room to roam in the south…..perhaps I’m just partial to FL. Then again, our state parks rock!

Yes, I remember, at least a couple of them were still in biz when I moved to SF. It’s all gone now. I miss Christmas very much and I’m hoping SC or TX will still be celebrating Xmas.
Can’t speak to the Palmetto State……But there are Tons of Lights up here in the Neighborhoods…..There has been less stuff in the stores the last couple of years though. But it’s a tradition here to drive to different neighboorhoods and check out each other’s displays.
I’ve felt so depressed and let down by the Gimme Americans that for the first time in over 20 yrs I HAVEN’T put up any decorations……maybe I should though….to keep up people’s spirits ??

When I read this article, my first reaction was that Christians need to slam these idiots. But then I thought the more logical move would be to post a nice verse directly beneath their “Dump the Myth”. My favourite is Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” It’s got a bit of the “slap-my-ass-and-call-me-Sally” about it, no?
