I was going to write a statistic filled post in refutation of the hyperbolic squealing of the ant-gun nutters – ghouls, actually, who are climbing over the bodies of the dead children in Sandy Hook to take political advantage – but I changed my mind.

There’s just no point. When a liberal asshat says the words “honest debate” about any subject, what they really mean is “shut up, listen to me and agree”.

I actually do think it is time to have an actual debate about guns and the Second Amendment but I simply won’t debate until I hear a liberal explain how a “right” to a woman’s “healthcare” (which really means aborting a fetus), a “right” that doesn’t even exist in the language of the Constitution, can be logically supported when they seek to override a specific, enumerated right to bear arms that does exist.

In Arianna Huffington’s piece that I won’t link to, she says:

Actually, we do have another choice — the choice to do nothing and allow more innocent victims to be sacrificed.

What hypocrisy, what rank and crass denial of reality these liberal asshats use to convince themselves of their righteous crusade. Save the little cherubs! If only there were no guns, we could save these little, living, breathing angels!

I, in no way want to minimize the deaths of the children and I know that it has been brought up here before at TRNL – but how is it that these liberal asshats can’t seem to muster the same anger about abortion as they seem to be able to do with guns? The The pro-life organization, Minnesota Concerned Citizens for Life reports that data compiled by the Alan Guttmacher Institute (a special affiliate to Planned Parenthood) indicates that there is an abortion EVERY 26 SECONDS in the US. There are almost 7 TIMES as many babies aborted EVERY HOUR OF EVERY DAY than were tragically slaughtered in Sandy Hook.

I hate to say it but my opinion is that those children in Sandy Hook are precious to Democrats only because of their political value. A little cherubic face is much cuter than the ultrasound of a fetus. A child that can say “Mommy” or “Daddy” has more emotional impact than one in the womb.

But in God’s eyes, they are one and the same.

I am heartbroken for the parents and families of these children. This tragedy did not have to happen. It is undeniuable that guns did have a role in the slaughter but eliminating guns only changes the tools of these killers. What will we outlaw next? Cars? Ladders? Pocket knives? The points made here by the Joe, Augger and the other co-bloggers and commenters that this is not about saving children, it is about power and domination are clearly accurate. If not, why are we not having the same “honest debate” about abortion?

I won’t link to it but Arianna Huffington spouts off statistics against guns in a rant that is based on biased statistics designed to generate alarm in people who do not understand guns…or apparently statistics. Bloomberg makes a similar statistical “agrument” about guns surpassing automobiles for fatalities by 2015 even as several paragraphs in the “story” indicate that their argument is nothing but attention grabbing bullshit.

I know that it is tiring and trite but fatal automobile accidents also claim roughly the same level of people as non-suicide related gun deaths – about 1 in every 10,000 people. The rate of deaths for the under-18 age demographic for auto accidents is several times higher than the rate of gun deaths in the same age range.

Huffington states:

In his speech, the president asked, “Because what choice do we have? We can’t accept events like this as routine.”

Actually, we do have another choice — the choice to do nothing and allow more innocent victims to be sacrificed. In fact, that’s the choice the White House has made so far. As Charlie Savage reports in The New York Times, the administration shelved proposals its own Justice Department came up with to improve background checks in the wake of the shooting of then-Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. The proposals included things like making sure agencies reported those listed as mentally incompetent to the FBI, increasing mandatory minimum prison sentences for “straw buyers” who buy guns for those who fail a background check, and requiring private gun dealers to do background checks. As Savage points out, many of the measures could have been done by executive order, but “the proposals were largely filed away without action.”
