I have been trying to warn people that they cannot count on the U.S. military to defend Americans if the government turns on us. The actions after Katrina should have been a clear indication that the troops will follow orders — even if those orders are illegal. Just look at the Nuremberg trials if you want to see what lengths otherwise good people will go when “ordered” to do so.
Now, I understand it is hard to accept that this is our reality, especially when we still have so many patriots still serving honorably in our armed forces. However, that the military is turning against Americans is what this story is actually about:
West Point center cites dangers of ‘far right’ in U.S.
A West Point think tank has issued a paper warning America about “far right” groups such as the “anti-federalist” movement, which supports “civil activism, individual freedoms and self-government.”
This is how tyrants have always dealt with those who seek to defend their individual rights and freedoms. They make them outlaws by passing unjust laws designed to make them into criminals. then they demonize these people and tell society they are a threat to peace and safety. Finally, they push for an incident, say, a “Waco-style” event (see story below) and use that as “proof” that we are a threat and they send the military to “collect” us. Now, if you doubt this, I have a friend who had to flee Cuba as a child because he didn’t want to get “collected.” You let me know and I’ll invite him to guest post here. I think he’ll have harsh words for those who tell him we are not starting down the same road Castro took Cuba.

Also remember Bachmann and 4 other Congressman put out the Info on Muslim Brotherhood infiltration in the State Dept……and the language at West Point and Anti-terrorism Dept.s in the CIA and FBI are not allowed to use Islamic Terrorism as a term …. and are not even allowed to use the Moslem Brotherhoods own words to analyze the threat !!!

West Point is reflecting our Administration, which reflects the thinking of the government in general.
I spent time in the military from 1967 to 1971. For those who are to young to remember there were massive demonstration against the Vietnam War.
In either 1967 or 1968 they were expecting major anti war protest in DC. My unit was given riot control training and put on standby (we we not allowed to leave the base) in case things got out of hand. Even though we disagreed with the protest I can’t remember one person in my unit that wanted to rough up any hippies let alone shoot anyone.
I am not denying the gun confiscation during Katrina but there was also LEOs and Nat’l Guard units that refused to participate in any confiscation. Also I thing that report from the West Point think tank does not represent the views of the average person serving in the military.

I’m a former Marine, myself — with my CAR. I understand what you are saying and that is why I addressed it in my post. But I also understand that the current service is NOT the service you and I knew — especially in the leadership ranks. Just look at what our leading Generals have been doing lately and you’ll see what I mean.
Joe, the best I will give you is a segregated military. While some officers and enlisted personnel will forget their oaths to defend the Constitution, and only accept lawful orders from their superiors, others will remember and stick to that oath as sworn.
To this end, I would again suggest that Obama will achieve his goals by using Executive Order 13603 entitled “National Defense Resources Preparedness” which establishes that:
And now we have this latest Executive Order on ‘Gun Control’, which contains the following”
Elsewhere (I cannot remember which) there is a signed Obama Executive order defining (or profiling) potential ‘dangerous people’ which includes conservatives.
Now, I don’t know about you, but there is just something about Eric Holder profiling Americans which is unnerving to me. Just saying.
But I suppose we really could research, muse over all this in an entirely new thread. 🙂

He may be, but there is too much evidence that he is NOT the one in charge. Look at all the rich white guys he is appointing. Now, would you have ever expected THAT from a racist (and yes, the man IS a racist, just read his books and you’ll see).
Of course he’s in charge. You can see that how he deals with Congress (my way, or the highway). He has very masterfully used his pawns as sacrificial lambs over the years to do his bidding, then take the fall dependent upon outcomes.

At a certain point….if it gets to that….those in LEO and those in the Military and those in the Qausi-Gov’t Gestapo forces recently created ( TSA, Homeland Security, Armed Interior Dept people etc..) are going to have to split into those who Will fire on American citizens (those armed and those unarmed) …..and those who will NOT.
Just as in CCCP in 1989 when the Tank commanders and Infantry refused to fire on the Citizens ammassed outside the PolitBuro even though orders to that effect were given…….Then Leaders joined, the most famous of which was Yeltsin coming and standing on the Tank in Solidarity with the Tank Commanders and the Citizens…..
The route to doing the right thing is Clear for all in the Military to see …. You stand with what is right….or you hide behind “Following Orders”……….Once again …it is that simple !!!

I said TODAY’s military is not the military I and others knew when we served. I thought that made it clear that me and my brothers-in-arms would have refused an unlawful order. I KNOW that to be true — but I KNOW that a good many today would follow it (because I am still in close contact with active duty troops).

Some friends have come round, and that’s fine, but I felt awkward when he popped in.

Slap yourself for me — again! Your reading comprehension is getting as bad as Melfamy’s. I did not say ALL of the military would turn on us, I didn’t even say any of it would. I said that we should rely on them NOT to — not anymore. And the evidence actually supports ME — not you. And I am no happier about it than anyone else, but it is our reality and I chose not to live with my head in the sand.

Have you been keeping track of how many military training exercises have been conducted the past 3-5 years on the premise of mass rioting over food or gun collections? And how many people do you know currently inside the ranks who are telling you that the troops are saying they will resist orders to restore order? I know several senior NCO’s, and they tell me the opposite: that the troops are expecting they will have to “save the union” from domestic terrorists. And THAT is how it will be sold to them.
I also served and I can tell you about serving during the Carter adminstration. We knew of so-called think tanks of that day. It went in one ear and out the other. As you will all remember, we were sworn to preserve, protect, and defend the constitution against all enemies foriegn and domestic. All branches of the service also had a regulation concerning “illegal” orfers no matter where they came from. An annual survey conducted in the armed forces always showed that the majority(average 70%) would not fire on their fellow Americans even if so ordered. For proof that this is valid, note that all of the governments violations of our rights have been at the hands of domestic law enforcement. Waco, Ruby Ridge, and Fast and Furious were all AFT disasters that were cleaned up by the FBI.

Have you noticed they have not published the results of those surveys in recent years? Have you heard of the growing influx of gang members into the service, and of foreigners seeking their citizenship through service? Do you think those people will be as responsible as you and I were? And do you think the Union troops who fired on the South thought they were violating the Constitution?
I understand how this sounds, and why so many want to push back against me. I even understand the urge to see me as a villain here. But none of that will change the fact that our military has changed as much as our society — unless of course you want to tell me the service was as willing to accept atheism and homosexuality and females in the front line during your day and mine as it is now….
