“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the [public] is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.”
Have you ever stopped to think about the proverbial “they?” ‘They” do this and do that and keep us from living our lives freely, but exactly who are “they?” Or better yet, how could there possibly be a “they” that could operate in the age of information? Doesn’t the very notion of someone who believes in “they” paint that person as a conspiracy nut? If you believe in “they,” don’t you also have to be sporting the latest in aluminum head wear? The answer is, NO! In fact, the “they” exist, they have declared their existence and they are actually simple to explain. Let me see if I can show you how simple.
Did you read the quote at the top of this page? How carefully did you think about it? Do you know what it means? Who said it? Or what that means? It was penned by Edward Bernays, the father of modern propaganda, advertising and public relations. He was also in the employ of the world’s first fascist dictator, Woodrow Wilson. So, what that quote represents is an open declaration that the conscience formation and direction of public opinion is necessary to society; there are men who work behind the scenes to manipulate society for this reason; and that he – and presumably his employers – is among that group of men. Now I ask you, how can something be a conspiracy if it is publicly asserted as true by those claiming to be doing it?
Bernays had a student, a very infamous student who perfected the work Bernays pioneered. This student credited Bernays for his and his country’s successful implementation of these techniques in mass control:
It is the absolute right of the state to supervise the formation of public opinion.
Not every item of news should be published. Rather must those who control news policies endeavor to make every item of news serve a certain purpose.
Now, let me ask you if you remember this?
And does it sound anything like this?
The war made possible for us the solution of a whole series of problems that could never have been solved in normal times.
So, let’s just dismiss with this notion that the idea of a “they” working behind the scenes to direct public opinion is a thing of conspiracy theory. It isn’t. It is an incontrovertible fact. Now, allow me to drive this fact home even harder. How and to what purpose would these people who work behind the scenes manufacture and direct public opinion? Well, let’s ask Goebbel’s boss:
In relation to the political decontamination of our public life, the government will embark upon a systematic campaign to restore the nation’s moral and material health. The whole educational system, theater, film, literature, the press and broadcasting – all these will be used as a means to this end.
But you say that this control over our media could never happen here, not in the United States? Well, aside from all the exposes about how the communists took over Hollywood; aside from the obvious support for and advancement of the Leftist agenda in the so-called news media; aside from all that, we have this from one of the heroes of the Left – especially the journalism corps:
The public must be put in its place, so that it may exercise its own powers, but no less and perhaps even more, so that each of us may live free of the trampling and the roar of a bewildered herd.
So, how do you suppose Lippmann would have proposed the public be “kept in its place?”
Without some form of censorship, propaganda in the strict sense of the word is impossible. In order to conduct propaganda there must be some barrier between the public and the event.
Now, we must remember, the term propaganda has not always held the negative connotations it holds today. At the time Lippmann was speaking, it was considered to be part of the scientific avant-garde: progress, if you will. And what better way to get between the story and the public than the news papers?
There is but one more piece of history I need you to consider before I deliver my grand finale, and that is this:
The efficiency of the truly national leader consists primarily in preventing the division of the attention of a people, and always in concentrating it on a single enemy.
Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives people harder than a fear of sudden death.
Mind you, “terrorism” does not have to mean government terrorism: it is sufficient to have an enemy that is declared to be a terrorist – like bankers and Jews, or Islamic Terrorists, or America’s veterans, the TEA Party or anyone clinging to their “God, gold and guns.” What matters is that the controllers have a focal point for their cause: a direction in which to aim the public so the public doesn’t notice the walls being built around them.
So, how can all this be possible in the age of information? How could a handful of people possibly accomplish all this without anyone catching on and blowing the whistle on them? Well, the first part is easy: “You racist, bigoted homophobic conspiracy nut!” We all know how well that PC club works. But then there is the centralization of information made possible by the very same technology and information age we think prevents anyone from being able to do this. In reality, Big Brother is already watching and, soon, he will know everything – and I mean everything you do. And he will use that information to control you.
So, without further a due, I give you Project L.U.C.I.D
[Note: I don’t know if Project L.U.C.I.D. is really, or if it is, how much credibility there is to the story in this link. But what I do know is that the government is working to collect ALL electronic data and to store it in one central location. Smart meters are part of this, as are the drones, wireless wire tapping, information sharing with Google (which is actually a prime mover behind this entire thing), FaceBook, Twitter and any other means of tracking you and your activity. We are very close to a point where the people behind all this will seize the pendulum of history and mankind will be plunged into a form of slavery from which there will be no way to ever extricate ourselves because they will know what we are planning before we know ourselves. Think about what I just wrote, and then ask yourself if you have noticed the up-tick in “Minority Report” stories and programs? Do you think there might be something to that control of the media to shape public opinion yet?]
