Have you seen this story?
A confidential Justice Department memo concludes that the U.S. government can order the killing of American citizens if they are believed to be “senior operational leaders” of al-Qaida or “an associated force” — even if there is no intelligence indicating they are engaged in an active plot to attack the U.S.
Ignore that this is connected to terrorism for a moment. Pretend this is about organized crime. Let’s look at this issue in this new light and see if it still reads the same to you:
EXCLUSIVE: Justice Department memo reveals legal case for drone strikes on Americans
A confidential Justice Department memo concludes that the U.S. government can order the killing of American citizens if they are believed to be “senior operational leaders” of organized crime or “an associated organization” — even if there is no intelligence indicating they are engaged in an active plot to commit a crime in the U.S.
Now, does this story still pass constitutional muster? The answer is NO! Our constitution dictates that the government cannot take the life of an American citizen without due process, and in the case of capital crimes, this includes a jury trial to establish guilt beyond all reasonable doubt. That is not happening here, so this story is clearly about the total disregard for the rule of law, which is otherwise known as tyranny. It’s tyranny because Obama and his Administration are totally disregarding the constitution and rule of law and just telling us whatever they want to do is legal because they say so. Any way you slice it, that is dictatorial, and dictatorships are tyranny.
Now, let’s just suppose that this is somehow “justified” because we are at war with Al-Qaeda. If that makes it “legal” for the President to order the assassination of an American citizen without trial because they are “believed” to be working with or for Al-Qaeda, or “an associated force,” then this is an open admission by the Obama Administration that they have committed open treason against the United States. After all, they were providing military aid to the Libyan rebels after U.S. intelligence confirmed “echoes of Al-Qaeda” (i.e. “associated forces”) were part of the rebellion. The Benghazi incident is related to Obama’s continued aid to these same forces. So, if Obama is providing direct aid to “Al-Qaeda associated forces,” his position in this nation most certainly makes him a “senior operational leader,” so you do the math and follow that line of reasoning to its logical conclusion…
