Over at The Corner, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal throws down the gauntlet(more of a back of the hand bitch slap, actually):
It seems as if President Obama sends out another cabinet secretary every hour to tell the public about the dire consequences we will face if the sequestration cuts are not averted.
You’ve heard them — no vaccinations for children, teachers losing their jobs, less security from terrorist attacks, longer wait times at airports, and fewer food inspections. Now there are even reports that government officials are releasing hundreds of immigrants from deportation centers. What’s next? Is the president going to threaten to open the doors of federal prisons? This is silly.
Sequestration cuts account for less than 3 percent of the federal budget, but the president would have you believe that the world is going to end if they happen. Americans know that at least 3 percent of federal-government spending is wasteful — and they would tell you there’s room to cut the waste without jeopardizing critical services. The president is asking the American people to believe that there is no waste or fat in government. It’s just a ridiculous notion.
It gets better: Even after the sequestration reductions, the federal budget will actually be larger than it was last year. Let that one sink in. Only in Washington, D.C., would this be called a cut…
This week he even rejected an idea that would have given the administration more flexibility to make these reductions in a way that wouldn’t affect critical services. Why, you ask? This administration has an insatiable appetite for higher taxes and government growth. There has been over $600 billion in new spending and nearly $6 trillion in new debt under this president. Last month, he approved over $600 billion in new taxes that will affect nearly every American. Now he wants more money out of our paychecks.
It’s the latest example of why the Obama years will be remembered as the Era of Government Greed. There isn’t a problem President Obama thinks can’t be solved by more taxes and more spending. His solution is always to take more money out of the American economy and put it into the government.
Booyah. Jindal is keepin’ his pimp hand strong.

Let me get this right: ALL of these things the President says are going to be cut will be lost for want of less that $100 billion dollars??? Is that correct?
OK, I accept the President’s argument. Now, can we please have back the other $2.9 TRILLION that apparently was never needed?
Somewhere in yesterday’s swirling blogosphere, I saw a calculation that Ipso’s trip to play golf with Tiger Woods…if that had been forgone, would have paid for NOT furloughing 341 people who are now threatened with furlough.
That’s the sorta stuff we need to fight this crapweasel with.
I wonder how many people have lost their jobs to fund Queen Moochelle’s fiefdom?
My brother in law called us earlier this week to tell us he wouldn’t be able to visit us for awhile…..not that we’ve invited him to visit. When we asked “why” he told us all the airports would have to be shut down because of the Sequestration about to happen. Since my PhD brother in law lives in LA and is a retired UCLA Professor I think he called us because we are the only people he knows who are not Progs. It was very hard to speak with him because we were doubled over from laughing so hard.
It’s truly amazing how many people in CA believe the country is about to come to a screeching halt and crash down around their ears. My response was to go outside and extol the contractors to paint faster. The sooner we get this house sold, the sooner we can get out of CA. Please God, let there be at least one normal town left in America and let us find it soon!
So far, we really like Texas.
I like it so much that I’m going today to buy myself a little .40 caliber SW, semi-automatic present, one thoughtfully produced for me by Beretta.
Don’t mess with Texas. Yippie. Ki. Yay.
Utah, I’m happy you & your family are enjoying Texas, we have visited there and always enjoyed it too. However, I have been hearing that the Progs here claim they will turn TX blue by 2016. When I inquired how this could be possible I was told that tons of Californians who have relocated to TX will join with tons of Hispanics already in TX and lead the Dems to victory in 2016. Although I do know that many Californians have moved to TX are there really enough of them there to change TX into a blue state? I certainly hope not.
My husband and I plan to visit TX later this year, we are especially interested in the Hill country around Fredericksburg, which I’ve heard has some of the same Conservative German flavor I grew up around in Minnesota before MN became a crazy blue state.
A Beretta? Wonder if Beretta will move to TX from Maryland. I tried to buy a gun once here in CA. The gun store gave me a booklet to study instead.
Utah, go ahead and set yourself up a NFA Gun Trust, get a 5″ threaded barrel and a suppressor for that little gem of a Beretta you just purchased.
You will thank me later.
I’ve always wanted to be James Bond but I think I’m more the Mitch Rapp type – I’m a little rough around the edges.
No. Don’t think James Bond. Think “I wont have to wear hearing aids later in life.”
Getting one isn’t that big of a deal. $400-$800 depending on what suppressor model you buy, $200 to the ATF for the stamp to own it, and 5-7 months wait to get it in your hand.
Time may be running out.
Hmmmm,
I know a Texas attorney who can help with further guidance.
Too bad we can’t privatize threads my friend. lol
Mitch Rapp and Jack Reacher rock……then again so does Jane Whitefield.
There’s always the upstate of South Carolina. Plenty of lakes and mountains. People are friendly, but mind their own business for the most part. And we just elected a new Sheriff who’s a staunch supporter of the 2nd amendment.
Oooohhhh, SC is the only state besides TX we are considering. We have vacationed in Hilton Head & Charleston, have a relative in Summerville who is retired Air Force, now a pastor there. Not sure we know much about upstate SC though. Could you please name a city or town near you so we can look it up on a map & do some research? We plan to visit SC later this year, as well as TX.
We just found out we can save approx $5000 if we buy a new car in SC instead of CA because car tax capped at $300!!! Even after we read that on the net my husband just could not believe it so he called a dealership in Charleston yesterday and they confirmed it. It’s like SC would be giving us a big, expensive Welcome gift! What a wonderful state, thank you SC.
We live about eight miles from Clemson University. The biggest cities around here, about hour drive away, are Greenville and Anderson.
Thank you, we will check out the area. We’ve heard of Clemson, think they might play a little football there.
Trapped, I own a home in the Charleston historic district, just off the battery and approximate to the Husk restaurant. If you are looking for an amazing place to live, the historic district is just about as fine a place as any.
Should you go that route, let me know and I will set you up with a fantastic agent there.
I own one in Florence, SC…On a golf course – I hope to sell it this year…
Florence? Hmmm, I’m going to have to look up where that is.
Thank You, we live in an 1885 Victorian now & I would love to live in Charleston Historic Dist, but my husband and my dogs want a house w/2-5 acres so I’ve been out voted and will be living on the outskirts of the city. As long as I can get in to go shopping, opera, museums I’m happy. Guys need land, at least mine does.
Heard Husk is great, have you tried it? We love Jestines, not fancy, but good chicken.
Jestines over on Meeting St? That is the place with the amazing Chicken Fried Chicken, right? The Husk is fantastic, but the menu changes twice daily. Be sure to check the menu before going.
One of my favorites is the Cast Iron Roasted Grouper. All of their “heirloom” vegetables, and breads are grown locally in the old tradition.
Food is great, and the history of it all is amazing.
Augger, yes on Meeting St, the fried chicken is amazing and the sweet chicken with Lima beans is also excellent. Husk sounds wonderful too, we will have to check it out when we’re there later this yr. Charleston area has lots to offer, that’s for sure.

Lost leader for South Carolina. They enjoy the benefits of a state income tax. lol
Thank you Kells, I had wonderful times in Florida when I was younger, but after all these years in CA I long to live in a red state, smothered in conservatives.
We’re red in the Panhandle…..or redneck, that is.
Kells,
LOL, my necks as red as they come, Garrison Keillor called my Moms peeps “nose to the grindstone Germans….known rednecks” Don’t think it was meant as a compliment, but I took it as one anyway.
Ich bin Deutcher….und Lutheran too! We are a rare breed in the south.
Alaska Airlines announced this week that they would continue flying even if the towers were shut down. Pilots could coordinate among themselves as they already do in many smaller airports.

Here’s a concept … most airports are owned by municipalities or states (and some by private corporations). So, the owners could simply hire the air traffic controllers from the federal government. They may have to take a cut in pay, but that won’t kill them and we could find that state-paid air traffic controllers do just as good a job as federally-paid air traffic controllers.
Just a thought.
Republic of Texas does have a good ring to it.
I think that Florida is a magical place. That’s my vote, Trapped.
How easily we get distracted, but the sequestration circus is nothing more, nothing less, than politics as usual.
