Saw Atlas Shrugged: Part 1 today. It was better than I expected – not because I expected it to be bad, I expected it to be difficult to translate Rand’s 1000 page tome and the complex ideas embodied there into a bite sized, consumer friendly package.
It held on to a substantial amount of material from the book without seeming contrived.
I thought that it was reasonably well written, Paul Johanssen’s direction was fluid and it did a good job of contemporizing the book to allow it to relate to a modern audience (Atlas was written in 1957).
The theater crowd was mostly 40 and over – applause broke out after the final scene.
Two thumbs up! Can’t wait for Part II and III!
