One of These Things is Not Like the Other

This really isn’t an #Occupy[yournamehere] post. It is an illustration of the synchronicity of the contemporary media with the “progressive” movement of today and how willing they are to create an illusion for the express purpose of advancing that agenda. It is alarming that, with all the evidence of history available to us, we have still reached this Orwellian 1984/Aldous Huxley Brave New World moment. Are we really this stupid as a culture? Are we truly this willfully ignorant of history? Are we so self-hating in America that we are willing to use our progress to destroy ourselves? Have we lost the fortitude and rigor required to seek the truth in a forest of lies?

One of history’s most vile purveyors of propaganda, Adolph Hitler, said:

By the skillful and sustained use of propaganda, one can make a people see even heaven as hell or an extremely wretched life as paradise.

There has been a great attempt to equivocate the #OWS movement with the Tea Party, to try to create the illusion that they are just warm and fuzzy, idealistic youngsters out to protest for their generation. In a demonstration of organized bias against conservatives and overt support for “progressives”, the media has worked tirelessly to generate a vision of the #OWS as a seminal groundswell of support for the left leaning, socialist policies of President Obama – what with “social justice” and “economic equality” being two of the commonly used catchphrases – but there are three major problems:

  • The #OWS is not “grass roots”, it is a manufactured event
  • They are nothing like the Tea Party
  • The #OWS crowd does not support Obama

The #OWS movement, one that according to the press has “spread” abroad, is a creation of the same leftists and anarchists that form the anti-globalist protest mobs at every meeting of the G8 and every meeting of the financial leaders of capitalist countries. They aren’t so much anti-globalists as they are anti-capitalist and pro communist. We have cataloged on this site how the #O[ynh] groups are presented as leaderless and disorganized while their activities are being bankrolled by the usual suspects, the former ACORN crowd, the Tides Foundation and George Soros/Soros backed organizations.

The people desperately seeking to create a vision of legitimacy for these useful idiots are the same ones who only want to co-opt them for their own political benefit.

The Weekly Standard quotes President Obama:

The president also compares the protesters to the Tea Party. “In some ways, they’re not that different from some of the protests that we saw coming from the Tea Party,” Obama says.

Politico captures San Fran Nan for posterity:

“God bless them for their spontaneity,” Pelosi told reporters. “It’s young, it’s spontaneous, it’s focused and it’s going to be effective.”

Members of the establishment media are acting as PR flacks for this rabble – here, here, here, here and here. The State Department is in on it as well.

On October 19th, Bruce McQuain at The Conservatory starts a list that has grown in the 10 days since:

While the media explained every disagreement that the Tea Party had with Obama’s policies as “Raaaacsim!tm”, they can’t see the racial and class hatred in the #Occupy protests and they have yet to indict the #OWS crowd for the same, choosing to excuse it by using the “you can’t judge the many by the few” logic. Too bad they couldn’t find that logic a few months ago.

Remember the claims of racist epithets “hurled” at John Lewis – how about Dale Robertson? I do.

The same thing is happening here. The Democrats are preparing the battlespace by constantly and consistently claiming racism where none exists in order to utilize a single act of some fool who makes a racial comment. They they will step back and say, “See, told you – racist! We’ve always known that the Teabaggers are racists!”

It has already been tried. Early in the stages of the TPM formation, an obnoxious man by the name of Dale Robertson attended a February 2009, Houston, Texas area Tea Party event with a sign containing the word “niggar”. Robertson presented himself as a founder and leader of the Tea Party movement – and predictably, the main stream media and “progressives” snapped it up. Much to their glee, Robertson fit their template; he was white, dressed in red, white and blue, wore jeans and a cowboy hat and had a beer gut. Perfect fit for the media’s image of a Southern male racist – and a bonus, he claimed to be an authentic Tea Party guy, claimed that he had been there from the start…he even had a Tea Party website. They finally had the racists dead to rights.

Except Robertson was none of that. He was a con man and a narcissistic publicity seeker who fooled everyone…everyone, that is, except for the official Houston Tea Party Society folks.

I guess that Lewis being denied a platform to speak  at #OccupyAtlanta was not enough to create a case of imaginary “Raaaacsim!tm”.

There is a new site dedicated to keeping up with the #Occupy[yournamehere] crowd (might be short lived due to the coming snowstorm) called OWSExposed. They keep tabs on the dirty communist hippies so you don’t have to.

Point being – #OWS is nothing like the Tea Party Movement.

Obama had hoped to capitalize on these fellow travelers but they don’t seem to be playing ball.

NBC’s David Gregory declared:

“I think the President’s in a mode right now where he’d like to get out in front of this parade and really harness some of this energy.”

ABC helpfully chimes in with this:

Obama to Channel ‘Occupy Wall Street’ Populism on Bus Tour

Obama will likely use his stump speeches to tap into the populism of the Occupy Wall Street protests, expressing solidarity with Americans’ economic frustrations while emphasizing his efforts to enact financial regulations that Republicans have opposed.

Republicans “want to let Wall Street do whatever it wants,” Obama told a friendly crowd in Asheville, N.C., the first stop of his trip, drawing boos in support of his point.

White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One that the president identifies with the grievances raised by the protesters and believes his policies demonstrate that he’s on their side.

But unfortunately Occupy Wall Street doesn’t really support Obama…soooo, maybe back to buying votes via a largely symbolic “stimulus”?

All in all, the #OWS “movement” has been an epic FAIL. Facing the prospect of an election a little more than a year away without any counter to the incompetence put on exhibit over the past three years, this administration is grasping at straws, desperately seeking some lifeline to hold on to.

Even though the #Occupy[yournamehere] “movement” has benefited from an incredible amount of media hype, relentless coverage and support from Big Leftist Media and professional “community organizers”, so much so that I am reminded of Winston Churchill’s famous line from his August 20, 1940 wartime speech, “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few…”, they just can’t get any traction – because they aren’t mainstream. It seems that every American outside the media bubble and local drum circle just can’t generate much sympathy about a bunch of hippies and snot-nosed proto-communist white kids setting up a sleep-over in a park.

The wall-to-wall coverage has backfired, instead of becoming the groundswell of cultural change that the “progressives” sorely desired and Obama needed, the media has just publicized their entitlement mentality, their envious and lazy intellectual underpinnings and the failings and weakness of the “progressive” agenda.

Epic FAIL.

    To quote “K:”

“The PERSON is smart, PEOPLE are stupid.”

When the few PEOPLE use Bernays/Lippmann/Freud against the PEOPLE, yes, we are THAT dumb. Now, over the edge of the cliff, everybody.
