So I was enjoying B’s video from the 40’s (which aught to be in every classroom) which led me to an Obama video, which in turn led me to this Oprah video.
Personally, I’ve only seen the Oprah show once or twice when the twins were over and insisted I turn it on. To me, it was pretty much like all those other talk shows on television. But this aforementioned video got me thinking…… I mean here’s a woman who is ranked pretty high on Forbes List and was quite instrumental (in my opinion) in getting Obama elected. I don’t understand the fascination with her, but it is an undeniable reality. So how much influence does she pull in one’s religious beliefs? You be the judge.
I stopped at the 5 min. mark. I’m always wary of sound bites or clips put together in a montage to further someone’s agenda.
To me, Okra has always been like the rest of the talk show ilk; her job as a talk show host is to cause discussion (in some cases controversy) in order to keep the program moving. She is no more a subject matter expert on many of the topics of her show than I am, but sadly, people do not understand this and subsequently she wields a great deal of influence over many. She has become vastly wealthy because she wields this influence, which gives her more influence.
I do not agree with many of the things she said in the clips and if you are a true Christian you won’t either, but because of her influence she can’t be summarily dismissed. The Bible teaches us in 7:15, “
sorry –
The Bible teaches us in Matthew 7:15; “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”
Fabian socialism.
Nicely done, FC.
Thanks, black.
In the O’s defense, perhaps her reference to this “Christ consciousness” B.S. is referring to the Holy Spirit? I call it B.S., because there must be the Trinity. That is the foundation to which she proclaims to asrcibe to.
Have to say, I loved the Forrest Gump moment when he tells Jenny how it is, which reminds me of a particular portion of the O’s video …..in the above video, some lady in the O’s audience tells it like it is and gets applause. Very cool.
Here’s the Forrest Gump moment:
I really don’t get the fascination with the O’s tripe, but then again, hell; I watched Cowboys and Aliens last night…..VERY cheesy and…..well, I dug it. My 007 is hot, the chick is beautiful and, well, throw in Harrison Ford, a dog and a kid and you’ve pretty much sealed your B movie deal. It’s no Bubba Ho Tep, but it’s fun 🙂
