On another thread, the question posed was what do you conservatives believe in anymore? Guy (whose name isn’t Guy, but that’s what I like to call him) had a beautiful response: “What most people who identify as Conservative believe in is personal responsibility. Each individual is responsible for his or her own life. Real Conservatives believe in the founding principles, the right of people to decide their own destinies, the right to be secure in their persons, the right to property, the right to pursue a better life for them and their families without a lot of interference from government. Less government is always better government. Progressives believe the exact opposite.”

If we are honest with ourselves, this philosophy is embraced by one candidate and one candidate alone. You know and I know that the candidate is Ron Paul. Call him crazy. Call him dangerous. Call me the Wicked Witch of the West because I’m not buying into all of these attacks against him. Somehow, “Crazy” Ron Paul has always been consistent. He is the true conservative and you all know it.

Oh! I forgot! We’re supposed to play the little voting game to ensure that Obama doesn’t get reelected! Guess the ruck what? I don’t want to play games any more or get drunk before I have to vote! I’m voting for Ron Paul. Guess you can call me wicked now, but I think if more people followed their hearts and not the media, we COULD all defy gravity.

My epiphany: The song “Defying Gravity” from the musical Wicked. The boys (Romney and Santorum supporters) shall be Glinda (The Good Witch). I shall be Elphaba (The Wicked Witch of the West)

So….who is wicked?

  1. KB,

Good article and I’m flattered that you used my words to make your point. Us Lutherans need to stick together, eh? By the by, Ron Paul was raised a Lutheran.

    Mike G.

  2. So I hope you aren’t one of these people…. Because these are not forthright people and they are being deceivers and there agenda is not for what’s best for our Country.

These folks certainly don’t have the following in their hearts….

“Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual – or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.” – Essay in the Boston Gazette, April 16, 1781

    • I’ve never heard of the bluerepublican.org site. Found an interesting article there, though:

Hockey, I don’t think they’re trying to “rig” a vote, I believe those folks over there WOULD vote for Paul over Obama, but for different reasons, from what I gather, than I. The article above, IMHO, sums it up quite nicely.

It’s ironic that you throw that quote at me, because I believe I am the one executing my trust in an individual who I believe will be accountable to God and our country.

Now I’m gonna check out your other site cause I see it has beer there 🙂

  3. Okay, so what do you do if Paul is does not win the primary, not vote again? If Romney is the GOP nominee, what do you then?
