If Newt is the Answer, You Better Check the Question

If you oppose the Progressive agenda, you should know that Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson were two of its primary founders, and FDR was chief in implementing the ideology into policy.  This is historic fact and can be proven by simply going back to the historic record (warning: do NOT trust history books, they are mostly written by Progressive professors).  SO, if you consider yourself to be “conservative” in the sense that you believe in the ideals and principles of our founders and support the notions of individual rights and liberty, you MUST oppose Progressives and the people who promote/advocate Progressive ideology and policy.  Otherwise, you are actually giving aid and comfort to an ideology you claim to oppose.  So, with this in mind, you might want to watch a few of these before you cast a ballot for Newt Gingrich:

Newt praises and/or supports:

Theodore Roosevelt:

Woodrow Wilson:

FDR:

The Trifecta:

Newt basically admits he is a Progressive:

Newt admits he is for globalism:

Our founders told us:

“Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have… a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge, I mean the characters and conduct of their rulers.”

–John Adams

As for the idea that what a person does in private NOT being important to how he/she behaves in public:

“I never … believed there was one code of morality for a public and another for a private man.”

–Thomas Jefferson

Now, this is for those of you who think you use your head and rely on reason to guide your decisions:

if you have ever complained about the left acting on emotion and not reason; if you have ever attacked the left for protecting their own even when their own has done or is advocating doing something that is NOT in the best interest of this nation; if you have ever criticized the left for their Progressive agenda AND you are considering voting for Newt, YOU NEED TO STOP ATTACKING THE LEFT!  Why?  Because you are making yourself into a hypocrite for doing the exact same thing.

Folks, vote however you want, but understand who and what you are voting for, and start identifying your political ideology accordingly.  If you vote for Newt, you can keep your “R,” but please, stop calling yourself a conservative and at least have the common decency of the left.  At least they will usually admit to being liberal/progressive.

  1. Let’s be realistic. We can attack all of the candidates. I will give kudos to Newt for making CNN look like a bunch of liberal ding-dong-dummies (and getting a standing O. for it, nonetheless). But I really thought (and maybe I’m bias) that Ron Paul won the debate.

    • Do you work at missing the point? Or do I REALLY have to give you more ammunition to use in calling me arrogant by connecting ALL the dots for you?

The point here is: Newt IS a liberal. Go look at what liberal/progressive means and then look at what Newt has said in these video clips and tell me he is ANY different from the left.

Seriously, if all one has to do to get elected is put an “R” after their name and then be good at making fun of the media, then we are in REAL trouble and I want NO part of being on “the side” that thinks this is OK.

(Utah: are you SURE you still reject Quigley and the 1 Party acting as 2 theory?)

  2. Let me add this: By not attacking Romney, the Dems. show that they believe they stand a far greater chance of having Obama reelected with these two (Romney and Obama) debating. We all know (and so do the Dems) that Newt would crucify Obama in a debate. The latest attack on Newt seems to be from a woman scorned. My husband believes she was paid (as well as the Herman Cain alleged dalliances) because Newt and Cain are/were a too big threat.
I think the Dems. are not so worried about Paul. IMHO, that could prove to be their undoing….

    • You might want to look into Newt’s peccadillo. He has a history with women, so I am not so quick to dismiss his ex-wife’s attacks. Haven’t you ever wondered why his current wife is ALWAYS with him? She NEVER let’s him go anywhere without her. You don’t suppose that is connected with this current attack, do you?

Go to You Tube and start entering searches for Newt and his exes and affairs and watch what NEWT has said. I do not need to attack him on that grounds, he damns himself.

  3. We’ve got three RINOS and one conservative. Is everybody with me so far? Oh, wait! I meant to say three RINO crapweasel ass…. ass…. damn! I forgot that one!

    • Who is the “conservative?” Paul is a Libertarian and, in most respects, to the RIGHT of the founders – as in “Articles of Confederation” right, and we all should remember how well that worked out.

    • I have already said I see no “good” candidate. I have said I believe we are screwed any way we turn this time. I have said it is OUR fault for NOT addressing this after Bush the 1st, or Dole, or “W” or McCain. We have had our chances and have insisted on sticking to this game instead of starting the hard work of growing a viable third Party or political movement.

The attacks on the TEA Party haven’t helped. There was a REAL chance, but nope, the right is eating them just like they eat their own (i.e. “R’s”).

Now I am told to “compromise” or I am “voting for Obama.” Well, I reject that assertion, but I AM willing to compromise. The best choice I see is Santorum. So far, NONE of the attacks against him rise to the level of those made against the other 3 candidates, yet no one wants to support him.

Tell me why that is and we might actually be able to decide whether or not he is viable or just another liberal/progressive.

  4. Here is where I agree with M.: The majority of people don’t listen to or understand the within the within. (look at the polls!! Hey, you’re talkin to a 32%er!)
So then your options must be go popular or go rogue. Oh, and, yes, Virginia, Santorum is a RINO.

    • I have been researching Santorum. Please, show me where he has said he is Progressive or supports the Progressive agenda?

I will look at it, but you MUST present me with evidence. Otherwise, you do nothing but throw darts because you can’t defend “your guy.”

  5. The silence that is deafening should come as no surprise, for when one actually investigates on one’s own, one is slammed with reality…… or what they make of it any way…..

    • Here’s my rebuttal: You Tube.

      The silence is deafening…

Do you REALLY think you made any points with that sort of reply – especially after I laid out such a SOLID case against Newt, and a case made in HIS OWN WORDS< no less?

  6. i think newt could whip obama in a debate and win an election against him, he has quick wit and a sharp tongue. BUT he is the worst candidate of the 4 that are still standing. mitt might fair well in a debate and election but i think it would be 50/50.

paul and santorum are probly the least electable of the 4, but they are the most outstanding individuals with my vote going towards paul. i am not sure how i feel about santorum debating obama or in an election against him.

i think paul would easily outsmart obama, but he is not a popular fellow(except people who really love/like him) he has certainly caught the attention of the alotta people since 08.

i still favor paul, i am more inline with him than i am anyone else. i just like his steadiness and his ambition to follow the constitution.

i remember in HS i had this one teacher, nobody liked him, he made us do our work, graded us firmly and was rather unpopular. i remember him more than any other teacher because i still use what he taught me almost everyday i am at work. i look back and see the good he was doing, and it was i that was the turd and was lazy. thankyou Holland Braxton. he was steadfast like RP is. whether you like him or not, he is gonna do what is best for the country, not for himself.

    • I’d love to see Paul or Gingrich debate Obama. I just hate that what a lot of what Paul says goes over peoples’ heads. My husband says it’s because he goes off on tangents and doesn’t answer questions; but I disagree. I think Paul is trying to do some educating and explaining when he answers. Oh, here’s the perfect example:

  7. in the summer of 2005, Santorum discussed what he called the “libertarianish right,” saying “they have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do. Government should keep our taxes down and keep our regulation low and that we shouldn’t get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn’t get involved in cultural issues, you know, people should do whatever they want. Well, that is not how traditional conservatives view the world, and I think most conservatives understand that individuals can’t go it alone…”

Santorum has stated that he does not believe a “right to privacy” is part of the Constitution; he has been critical of the Supreme Court decision in Griswold v. Connecticut (1965), which held that the Constitution guaranteed that right, and overturned a law prohibiting the sale and use of contraceptives to married couples. He has described contraception as “a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.”

these are both taken from wikipedia.

santorum wants GOV to get involved in what folks do in their own private bedroom, i dont think so pal. if i wanna use whips and chains and do the hokey pokey with a willing lady that is of the legal age, well, Santorum can come watch but he cannot direct. this is a form of bigger government and overreach. can i get an AMEN?

btw, i think birthcontrol and condoms are within my right to use for prevention of pregnancy and transfer of stds. throwing a woman down stairs or punching her in the gut to prevent/end pregnancy (is absolutely hilarious to joke about) is very much wrong.

    • “santorum wants GOV to get involved in what folks do in their own private bedroom, i dont think so pal. if i wanna use whips and chains and do the hokey pokey with a willing lady that is of the legal age, well, Santorum can come watch but he cannot direct. this is a form of bigger government and overreach. can i get an AMEN? ”

      AMEN!!!

P.S. Should I bring the whips and chains or just the cool whip tonight?

    • Setting aside the contraception issue, are you aware that the FOUNDERS believed there was a proper role for govt. in what you call “the area of the bedroom?”

The difference here is between libertarianism/Articles of Confederation and Classic Liberalism/U.S. Constitution. One works, the other doesn’t.

Now, I can’t stop people from putting their personal views together piecemeal, but a la cart politics is what we have now. I don’t see inconsistent policies being a solution to our current issues.

  8. I do think it interesting how the issues at hand in this post got set aside by a diversionary attack on Santorum.

Funny, this is what Rush tells us the left does when it can’t debate the issues (i.e. Newt being a Progressive).

Question: if the readers here are supposed to be among the most informed in our society and we STILL can’t discuss something by staying on topic and using reason, why are any of us even bothering to come here or voice our opinions? Ignorance can be excused, willful ignorance should not be.

If we can’t be better than the people we criticize, then we are more part of the problem than they are.

  9. in my defense, i acknowledged that newt is a progressive(mitt as well) and have believed this all along. i do not need to repeat what you have said, you said what i believe about newt. this is where you and i agree. i went through all 4 candidates rather than staying specific to just newt.

B, you did pose a question as to “Please, show me where he has said he is Progressive or supports the Progressive agenda?” i tried to acknowledge that tho i may should have been specific to say this was my address to you B. now whether you think these issues are progressive or ultra conservative…….. they are against what i think the role of gov should be involved in.

    • OK, first, please accept that I am NOT trying to attack you or anyone for that matter. I have said we will all vote as we feel best, and that my main concern here is that people should be aware of what they are voting for (not who) and own the ideology that goes with it. You, my friend, do that.

Now, as for Santorum and his ideas about “the bedroom.” IF we care about what the founders believed, then govt. has a role here, but perhaps not an unlimited role. Taken to the logical conclusion, the tact you’re currently on can be used to justify polygamy, bestiality, S&M to the extent of physical harm, and more. The founders believed that there MUST be some level of public decency in order to maintain a free and self-governing society (i.e. support the social sense of morality). I happen to agree.

For some 150+ years, our laws were in accord with this line of thinking. It was not until the philosophy of Hegel started to drift into our society that the law started to allow relaxing of these social mores and look where we are now. Now we are arguing over things that wouldn’t even be in question had God not been forced – by the courts – from our public lives. You should look at where the stats for our social ills went off the charts (divorce, STD’s, teen pregnancy, single parent families, violent crime and falling test scores). You will find a correlation between there sudden spike and sustained increase and the court ruling which evicted God from the place the founders intended for Him to stay.

If we refuse to acknowledge and address this issue, we’re tilting at windmills: NOTHING is going to change – unless it changes for the worse.

      • “Now we are arguing over things that wouldn’t even be in question had God not been forced – by the courts – from our public lives. That and the addition of social programs, I would say. (goin by stats)

  10. “Let’s be realistic. We can attack all of the candidates. I will give kudos to Newt for making CNN look like a bunch of liberal ding-dong-dummies (and getting a standing O. for it, nonetheless). But I really thought (and maybe I’m bias) that Ron Paul won the debate.”

That was my first comment. I thought I was keeping in line as I’m very well aware that I sometimes tend to go off on a tangent. And yet, this sort of deflection by you only accentuates the fact of which we all know and which I also stated above: “We have three Progressives and one Conservative” (or a right-leaning Libertarian, by your definition).

I’ll vote for Santorum. Hell, I’ll vote for Mickey F’g Mouse over Obama. But on Jan 31st, I’m voting for that right-leaning Libertarian, Ron Paul.

    • Vote for Paul. NOT trying to “force” you to do anything.

Also, STILL not established that Santorum is a Progressive, sorry. He may be, but you have NOT made the case. Now, either make that case or at least have the decency to say you don’t know.

  11. Been doing some searching about Santorum. Sems the Progressives – the REAL ones who call themselves Progressives – HATE Santorum.

Hummm, me thinks me senses a disconnect between what the Progressives are telling me and what I am being told here on the RNL.

Who to believe, who to believe…

    🙂

  12. Why do I suddenly feel as though I’m dealing with Bugger? Can you not look this up? MUST I copy/paste for you? Trust me, you will be sorely burnt if that’s the case.

  13. B, i agree with you on the issues of “polygamy, bestiality, S&M to the extent of physical harm”. i made sure to say a “willing lady that is of the legal age” i just figured these were a given and i did not need to be that specific. i got the insinuation that Santorum would like to go far beyond that from what i read. i could be mistaken. he advocates that condoms and BC should be outlawed. this sounds catholic to me, but where does that end when we cant use contraceptives? am i not allowed coitus interuptus? does this mean that a woman cant cleanse herself afterwards? does she have to maintain her legs in the air and her vaginal canal in an upright position to allow for a greater chance of conception? if so, for how long? it seems that Santorum thinks that sex is strictly for reproduction and not for pleasure. he also does not agree with sodomy(anal sex). but who is gonna police what a man/woman or husband/wife do in the bedroom? it is allowing gov a precedent to go further than it was intended.

now, i took that to the extreme, but if i can take it there in a matter of seconds, where could politicians take it with 4 yrs to mess around with it and earmark it in a bill. Santorum is well known for earmarking in PA.

    • And how the hello can you outlaw BC? Those are the best for a headache!

Tony, please stop telling him what we do in private; it could be dangerous! Oh, I’ve got the strawberries.

    • Just because you and I agree does not mean others will. The point is exactly why the founders said govt./society has a certain role in maintaining minimum moral standards. Once you open the door… I thought that was understood and that I didn’t have to point it all out 🙂

As for Santorum taking things to that extent, I rather suspect that, even if he wanted to, he’d NEVER get that passed in Congress OR the SCOTUS. So we disqualify a man for something like this and advocate for someone who will ONLY worry about being nuked by a country that has openly declared its intentions to nuke us AFTER it has successfully nuked us.

Do you see why I am having a problem with the reasoning here?

  14. No Bells not the Bugger reference…. This is a much nicer place. Really the question I posed before is still not answered. As far as Paul goes I can get past this position…

So I ask again what to do before 31 Jan 12 for those of us here in Florida?

    • Please read The Real Lincoln by Lorenzo. Dang! I can’t remember if that’s his name! But after reading that book, I completely concur with Ron Paul’s position in the youtube video. I wonder if I still have that book….. If I do I’ll get it to you, pal Joey.

      • Thanks Bells….But I think that a sitting Congressman thinking that you can buy another Man, woman or child is just way on the wrong side of this. the Neoconfederate position is not what the founders would have wanted nor is the progressive.regressive mantra and policies that have plagued the Nation for over a 100 years.

    • OK, what does the civil war have to do with anything? true, Paul is correct here, and the founders said so BEFORE the Civil war was fought. But as far as I am concerned, this is a red herring – unless we want to apply it to Paul’s proven record of not agreeing with ANY war this nation has ever fought. In that case, this video actually adds to the reasons NOT to vote for Ron Paul, and for the very reasons I have explained: HE WILL NOT DEFEND AMERICA!

  15. Santorum doen’t like strawberries, and apparently, according to B., neither did one of our Founding Fathers: “I never … believed there was one code of morality for a public and another for a private man.”

    –Thomas Jefferson

Well, damn! Slap my ass and call me Sally. Um, Hemings, that is.
