Did you ever hear about this comment?
“Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of private firearms is the goal.”
–Attorney General, Janet Reno
Or this comment?
“This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilised nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!”
–Adolf Hitler
The founders did not write the second amendment so we could go target shooting or hunting for sport. They sought to preserve it so we could resist our own government when it became an enemy to the People. But today, people like Reno and Holder will tell you that the 2nd Amendment was for hunting and target practice and the 1st Amendment was meant to kick God out of the public arena. Lest you ask yourself why they would want to do something like that, let me remind you:
“America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within.”
–Josef Stalin
When you understand that Reno and Holder are Progressives, and Progressives are kissing cousins of Communism, you suddenly realize that they have been doing exactly what they said they would the whole time. That isn’t a “conspiracy,” it is subversion, and it is actually illegal, but do we see any of these people charged, let alone tried? No. Now what does that tell you about the rule of law in America today?
Well, it tells me that one has to have actual evidence, not quotes made up in the right-wing blogosphere. I just spent 30 minutes out of my life, trying to find the context from which those quotes were taken. I could not find the source of a single one, just three pages of blogs citing each quote.
But the idea of Stalin calling the US a ‘healthy body’ sounds a bit, well, made up. As does the Reno quote. The Hitler quote I cannot find, either, but It sounds more Hitlerish than not.
Well, it tells me that one has to have actual evidence, not quotes made up in the right-wing blogosphere.
I suppose one has to actually look somewhere other than Media Matters to find evidence against the left? Or should I assume you didn’t look that hard? I found the quotes or others nearly identical to them with ease:
Try here, or here or here.
In the pages where they quote pro-gun comments, note the names and try to keep in mind which ideology with which each is associated. You’ll even find Republicans in there advocating gun control (more proof that Progressives live in BOTH Parties).
Need MORE proof? What part of the tens of thousands of laws restricting the ownership of firearms have you missed? And how do you square those restrictions against the 2nd Amendment which says the right to KEEP and BARE arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED?
Melfamy, there are none so blind as those who refuse to see. I find it amazing you can “see” the “sins” of those on the right, but you are mostly blind to the same “sins” when they are perpetrated by those on the left.
I can find the quotes, B, but the attributions are vague or non-existent. You are always (rightly) insisting that the context is important, I went looking, came up with nothing. I don’t have agenda, I assure you, other than getting at the nut of the matter.
Agenda? *sigh* The people making these comments are PROGRESSIVES. Progressives want to control EVERY aspect of your life. They are not wise, but they are not stupid, either. So they are well aware that they must take our weapons away to control us. So they are doing this openly, and they cannot help but make these comments because it is part-and-parcel of who they are and what they want to do.
But then, you don’t see that because you see Thomas Jefferson in the words “We are five days away from FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGING the United States of America.”
Greg, you are better than this, my friend. I KNOW that you are aware of the agenda on BOTH sides, but I guess I should dismiss the “g**d*** the Constitution” quote from “W” because it was out of context and can’t be sourced beyond the people who were in the room with him when he said it.

Bogus Gun Control Quotes
From Guncite.com, a pro-gunownership and 2nd Amendment supportive website.
So you are suggesting that, though some quotes are false, there are still enough valid ones by people in and around the controls of our government to warrant the concern? Because, unless you are saying NO such quotes exist, my point is still valid 🙂
http://www.guncite.com/index.html
Why, heck, FC, all you had to do to get that one straight was ask ANY of the founders what the 2nd Amendment meant. But thanks, that’s a useful site, too 😉
Well, did anyone watch the video of Eric Holder in his own words back in 1995 where he said that the government needed to brainwash our kids against guns? That was very plain to see and you would have to be really ignorant not to get the gist of what he’s saying. Eric Holder doesn’t believe in the Second Amendment and he’s bound and determined to get rid of it any way he can.
Mr.Gguy, I saw That video after writing here. Holder is scary, just for using the word brainwashing, whether he meant it or not. But it sure sounded like he meant it, I can’t see how the context could change a thing unless first he said, “And now, I’m gonna do an impersonation of a low-key totalitarian dick.”
B, I don’t doubt that there are more people like Holder, but those quotes, their source being an unknown quantity, were not the best evidence, ‘sall I’m sayin’.
Now THAT I’ll give you. But then, my quotes are not meant to provide “proof beyond doubt,” but they are intended to get people looking because – as you may have found – once you start looking, you can and will find that the sentiment is out there. Oh, and one more thing: just because a quote is sourced to a TV show doesn’t mean it’s a “soft sourcing.” It could mean it is made up, or it could mean you need to watch the show or find a transcript because these little-watched shows and PBS interviews, etc (where they talk to themselves) is where they show their true colors, my friend. I won’t say everything is legit, but I have now seen enough to accept that it is possible… 😉
Will any of these suffice?
Incidentally, I suspect THAT is where my quote came from, but if you don’t like the one I used, how about this one?
I know these are not directly anti-gun, but I think they are even more damning:
Is this enough to make my point, or shall I keep going? 😀
No, B, you nailed them up with their own words.
Personally, if i could destroy every gun, every weapon more advanced than the crossbow, in the world with a twitch of my nose, I would not hesitate. Since that is not possible (still working out the bugs), I support the 2nd amendment, along with the rest of the Constitution of which it is a part. it saddens me that these officials, some whom I otherwise admire, see the Constitution as an impediment instead of a framework.
First, the Constitution was intended to be an impediment to such people. The founders clearly said just that – because those people will kill you in the name of what’s good for you. They have no conscience and only see themselves. They think they see you and I and they have convinced themselves that they mean well, but in their actions we see they they care only for themselves.
As for ridding the world of weapons, this is an example of what I mean by the above statement. Were you to do so had you the power, you would kill millions who would otherwise never harm anyone outside self-defense.
One of my favorite science fiction authors is David Drake (of Hammer’s Slammers fame). He wrote a book called, I think it was called “North World.” It was about a mercenary who is banished to an artificial planet with built-in intelligence. The planet will remove ALL weapons from the hands of the inhabitants. As the story progresses, the merc gets in several fights, and each time, the planet removes whatever the merc had grabbed to use as a weapon: a chair, a stick, etc. But, in the end, the planet discovers the merc is the true weapon and it removes him.
This is what people who are against weapons do not understand: what I wish I could help you learn to see. It is not the weapon that kills, it is the person. You are dealing with human nature, and that DOES – NOT – CHANGE! No matter how much we “care,” or “try”
or even “want” it to change, it will never change. Once we accept that we cannot “tweak” the controls of society and change human nature, then we can start to “tweak” society to respond to human nature. It’s called Natural Law, it is real, it knowable, it works, and EVERY time Man tries to operate outside of it and by his own design, we fall flat on our face – and usually in mass murder and/or destruction.
