Jaren Wilkey, the manager of the university photography office, caught some amazing still and video shots of Andrews tumbling hard over the barrier and into the water, giving added context to the YouTube video that Andrews herself posted earlier this week.
“I think I caught the toe of my spike a couple steps before the barrier,” she wrote when she posted the video. “I don’t remember smacking the barrier, only being completely submerged in the water — ha ha.”
Elizabeth “Fauxcahontas” Warren’s campaign has taken a similar tumble.
If you are not aware of Liz “Fauxcahontas” Warren, she is Harvard professor and self-professed ideological mother of the #Occupy [yournamehere] movement. I guess that you have to forget that she makes over $500,000 a year – but then being a hypocrite never stopped a good “progressive” from doing “good” to other people. We have covered her Marxist views here. You will remember good old Liz “Spewing Bull” Warren from this video:
Warren is embroiled in a controversy due to her self-identification as Native American during her academic career – the only problem is that her proof is “family lore” that her great, great grandmother was a Cherokee from Oklahoma (via Legal Insurrection). Even if true, it makes her 1/32 Cherokee – hardly enough to claim Native American status and the benefits provided through “progressive” racial profiling programs.
She appears to have benefited from her “minority” status as academia is especially sensitive to racial profiling to promote “diversity”. She was publicly listed as the single Native American professor at Harvard in the 90’s. Mark Steyn at NRO’s The Corner notes:
In my weekend column, I write about Harvard Law prof and Democrat Teepee Party candidate Elizabeth Warren, who can’t understand why anyone could possibly get the idea she’s been passing herself off as a Cherokee for most of her adult life. Well, maybe they got if from Harvard’s daily newspaper. From 1998:
Harvard Law School currently has only one tenured minority woman, Gottlieb Professor of Law Elizabeth Warren, who is Native American.
This may be the drollest diversity scam since an Englishman called Archibald parlayed himself into global celebrity as the Ojibwe Indian “Grey Owl“. Unlike “self-identifying” as Hispanic, “Native American” identity requires a formal namecheck on tribal rolls. Yet, on the basis of a (possible) great-great-great-gran’ma, Elizabeth Warren presented herself as Harvard’s token redskin with nary a blush – and nobody called her on it.
A 1%er academic spouting off 99%er underclass #OWS/Marxist claptrap. A leftist who believes that no one ever got rich in this country without government. A rich, white woman apparently distastefully gaming the racial profiling system established by her political forebears to elevate minorities for her own personal gain.
I’d say Liz is a 100% authentic, certified “progressive”.
Fauxcahontas is the textbook definition of Hayek’s admonition that in a Marxist/socialist system, the worst work their way to the top in manners exactly like Warren has used.
Since it is the supreme leader who alone determines the ends, his instruments must have no moral convictions of their own. They must, above all, be unreservedly committed to the person of the leader; but next to this the most important thing is that they should be completely unprincipled and literally capable of everything. They must have no ideals of their own which they want to realize; no ideas about right or wrong which might interfere with the intentions of the leader.
There is thus in the positions of power little to attract those who hold moral beliefs of the kind which in the past have guided the European peoples, little which could compensate for the distastefulness of many of the particular tasks, and little opportunity to gratify any more idealistic desires, to recompense for the undeniable risk, the sacrifice of most of the pleasures of private life and of personal independence which the posts of great responsibility involve.
The only tastes which are satisfied are the taste for power as such and the pleasure of being obeyed and of being part of a well-functioning and immensely powerful machine to which everything else must give way.
Smitty at The Other McCain finds Fauxcahontas a theme song.
