This should not be necessary, especially for those who have followed my posts for any length of time, but I know that I have to say it anyway – and still there will be people who will refuse to accept my words. I do not fear or hate Muslims! Period! End of story: no ‘ifs,’ ‘no ‘explanations,’ no ‘equivocation.’ As a Christian, I happen to believe Muslims are the same as any of us: on a human level, we are all the same. I believe this personally, and because the Bible tells us this is so. However, I also believe Muslims have been deceived, just as many who call themselves Christians have been deceived. But I do not mean deceived in the same way. A person who thinks they are Christian but is following a heretical perversion of Christianity has been deceived by someone who has twisted Scripture, but all Muslims are following a perversion of Scripture. This is the primary problem that most of us in the West do not understand and refuse to accept. In fact, too many of us refuse to even listen so that we might come to understand the true nature of this problem. However, if you will listen now and give me the time I need, I will try to explain it as best I can.
Islam is not and cannot be considered ‘equivalent’ to the other major religions because its fundamental flaws are not the result of ‘bad interpretation,’ they are the result of doctrine. It is not that the text or spirit of what is in the Qur’an are ‘misinterpreted’ by those we have labeled ‘radical’ Muslims – thought this does happen – it is that the text fundamentally teaches exactly what those we call ‘radical’ are doing. Killing non-believers is commanded, and not just ‘in times of war’ as Muslim apologists would have us in the West believe. The Bible does not teach anything equivalent to this. In fact, it teaches the opposite. Christ, Himself, commanded His followers to preach the Gospel, but if anyone refuses to accept it, to just leave them to Him. Christ did not tell His disciples to cut off their heads, the Qur’an does.
But the Qur’an is not the only important holy book of Islam. You must also read the Hadith, or Sunna. This is a record of the sayings and deeds of Muhammad, and Muslims are commanded by the Qur’an to refer to this record to resolve any dispute they may have regarding their faith (Qur’an 4:59). Muhammad is considered to be the perfect man, and anyone who denies his words or deeds is denying he is ‘the’ prophet, which is the same as denying Allah. IN essence, the Hadith is the equivalent of the New Testament: it is the ‘instruction manual’ for the Qur’an: it explains what the Qur’an means and how to follow it. It is equal to the Qur’an as to deny it would be the same as a Christian denying the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
At this point, we need to understand that the teaching of Islam is a negation of the Bible. This is important because Muslims will tell you they worship the same God as Abraham and Moses – but they do not! It is impossible for Allah to be “I am.” If you understand this phrase and the depth of what it means – how much it includes – then you understand that the God of the Bible is constant: He does not change His mind or character/nature. But this is exactly what Muslims claim: that God suddenly changed His mind about everything and told His new plans only to Muhammad. For this to be true, then the God of the Bible could not be “I am.” If we wanted, we could go into some depth about God’s promises and the prophecy in the Bible. These are part of how we know God is real and that He keeps His promises. But for Islam to be true, all of the Bible would have to be negated – all of it.
Muslims try to get around this by claiming the Bible was ‘perverted’ by man, and that it does not represent the true word of God. The problem here is that they claim the Biblical prophets – including Jesus – and we have many ancient texts which contain the words of these prophets that show the books of the Bible are much older than first thought, and are surprisingly consistent across the archeological timelines. The same cannot be said about the Qur’an. In fact, the earliest known copies of the Qur’an differ greatly. Perhaps it is because these differences are known that ‘outsiders’ are not allowed to study these early tests: for fear that Islam will be shown to have been the work of one man – Muhammad?
Now, let us go back to the Qur’an and Hadith, and back to the sayings and deeds of Muhammad. You will find that Muhammad said and practiced the taking of ‘booty’ by the sword; that he taught Muslims to lie to and/or trick non-believers; that he taught the murder of infidels – Jews especially (Muhammad massacred the Jews at Banu Qurayza, and that makes it a doctrinal command for Muslims to follow this example just as it is Christian doctrine that all of Christ’s followers love and pray for their enemies); Muhammad taught Muslims to make peace treaties until they could gather enough strength to defeat their enemies, then to break those treaties for this purpose (this is part of what happened at Banu Qurayza, and Muhammad did it, so this is a doctrinal practice of Islam, as well); Muhammad practiced and commanded jihad, and said that it was the surest way to heaven – even that jihadi warriors are exempt from most Islamic restrictions while in the act of jihad (now you know why the 9/11 attackers were allowed to drink and visit prostitutes). This and much more is all in the Hadith.
Now, about the notion that there are ‘good’ Muslims and ‘radical’ Muslims: the simple answer is NO! At least, not by a doctrinal understanding. Yes, there are good people in Islam who only want to live in peace and raise their families. I keep saying this, but no one wants to listen. The same is true about Christians, only in reverse: there are evil people who call themselves Christian. But the issue is not the people, it is about the teaching that is actually in the holy books of the several major religions. This is where most Westerners get lost, and for the same reason most Muslims get lost: neither bother to actually read the books – not even Christians (hold on to that, we’ll come back to it shortly). In addition, we in the West do not understand the legitimate interpretational disputes inside Islam, and this is where the issue of jihad gets confusing for most of us.
Islamic prophecy is as important to understanding Islam as it is to Christianity, and it is a mirror opposite of Biblical prophecy. The Islamic messiah is the spitting image of the Biblical Anti-Christ. Shi’a Muslims refer to their messiah – or Mhadi – as Sahib Al-Zaman, or “The Lord of the Age.” But in II Cor 4:4, this is the exact name the Bible uses for Satan. (Several of the ’99 beautiful names of Allah’ are exact matches to Biblical names for Satan) Now, just as Christians fight over whether there will be a pre-, mid- or post-tribulation rapture, Muslims fight over when to start the global jihad commanded by their scriptures. Yes, Islamic scripture does command global jihad to either convert or kill all non-believers to Islam (Islam means ‘submit’). The two major factions within Islam just differ over when and who can order this global jihad. According to orthodox Muslim jurisprudence, only a sitting Caliph has the authority to declare global jihad, but others disagree. But there are others who disagree. Some of them actually believe they can help bring about the Mhadi’s return by causing chaos by waging global jihad now – with or without the Caliph (now you understand the urgency of the Muslim Brotherhood’s efforts to reconstruct the Caliphate currently underway in the Middle East). It isn’t that global jihad is a ‘bad interpretation’ of Islamic teaching because it is there, the ‘interpretation’ is over who can declare it and when. As soon as there is a sitting Caliph again and he says GO! Then even Muslims the West considers ‘moderate’ – like Dr. Zuhdi Jasser – will be running around with their swords forcing people to submit or die. THIS IS WHAT THE WEST DOES NOT UNDERSTAND AND REFUSES TO SEE! This is also why the PC term of ‘radical’ Muslim is meaningless, only Westerners are too ignorant to understand.
Now, go back to when I said to hold on the fact that people do not read their Bibles or Qur’ans. The Christian reformation came about because men had seized control over the Church and corrupted it for purposes of their own power and wealth. This was not a failing of biblical teaching; it was a failing of men. So, when the Protestant movement started, it included the demand that people start reading for themselves. This is why literacy rates soared during the Protestant Reformation: because it was necessary to the movement that every person read the Bible for himself/herself so they could develop a personal relationship with God. THERE IS NO SUCH REFORMATION POSSIBLE WITH ISLAM! The West keeps calling for Muslims to have a similar reformation, but as I hope I have just shown, this is not possible – not without totally re-writing the Qur’an and throwing away the Hadith, in which case, whatever he have left would not be Islam. This is what I cannot seem to get through to those who read my posts: in order to ‘reform’ Islam, you have to deny its claim to be the revealed word of God – you have to destroy it to save it. Imagine telling Christians they have to throw away the resurrection and totally re-write the New Testament to ‘save’ Christianity. Good luck with that one. For this same reason, it will never happen with Islam.
The rest of what I have continually tried to explain follows from this. What I refer to as ‘stealth’ jihad is real, but Muslims call it by different names. If you prefer, think of it as ‘political’ and ‘public relations’ jihad. What matters is that the Western world understands that Islam can and does lie to protect itself – especially when it perceives it is weak compared to its adversaries. Muslim leaders can and do tell Westerners one thing and then say the exact opposite when talking to other Muslims. I have not lied about Islam because I do not have to. I have read their books. I just wish I could get America to wake up to the fact that Islam is NOT what we tell ourselves it is (nor what the jihadists tell you, either).
I hope this helped. I hope even more that it will motivate you to learn more on your own. There is so much more that America needs to understand, like the fact that Islamic govt. (the Caliphate), Islamic law (Sharia), and the Islamic religion are all one: they are made one by the Hadith. But if you still do not wish to understand and accept what I am saying as the truth, no worries: just ignore my posts about Islam in the future because I will not change my position – not when I know I am correct.
I wasn’t going to bother with this when I originally wrote this post because it was already going to be long enough, but given the exchange in the comments section, I suppose a little history about the creation and evolution of Islam may be in order as it may help clarify some of the ‘sticking points’ of the debate over Islam.
Tradition holds that Muhammad was born in Mecca in 570 A.D. It is generally accepted that he became an epileptic and subject to epileptic fits while he was still a child, after having become an orphan. Muhammad first set out to try to convince the Jews that he was a modern prophet. The Jews rejected him. Then he went to the Christians with the same story and they rejected him. Finally, while sitting alone in a cave, he encountered what he first said was a jihn (demon) that tried to choke him. After several such encounters, he then claimed it was the ‘arch angel’ Gabriel. Muhammad never recorded his revelations (the Qur’an says he was illiterate). They were transmitted by ‘reciters’ who memorized what he told them. The Qur’an was not written until some 100 or so years after Muhammad had died, and after having lost more than 450 of Islam’s ‘reciters.’ The same applies to the majority of the Hadith, with a great deal of this work coming from Muhammad’s youngest of 12 wives (she was 6 when he married her, 9 when they consummated their marriage. Muhammad claimed that Gabriel only came to him when he was in his youngest wife’s bed)
Early on, Muhammad’s new religion had difficulty attracting followers. For many years, he had only about 1,000 disciples. It wasn’t until after he started to raid the trade routes and allow his followers to keep 4/5 of whatever ‘booty’ they captured that his following started to grow. Soon after, he had more than 10,000 followers. Muhammad personally led some 27 of these raids and planned and sent out under other leaders is believed to have been thirty eight. Tradition claims that in his last speech to his followers, Muhammad said:
…..”I descended by Allah with the sword in my hand, and my wealth will come from the shadow of my sword. And the one who will disagree with me will be humiliated and persecuted.”
It was after this conversion to violence that things started to change in his ‘revelations.’ The earliest verses of the Qur’an, or earliest revelations are those that are most charitable toward ‘the people of the book’ (i.e. Jews and Christians). As Muhammad grew older, he grew more violent toward Jews and Christians and the verses change. It is Islamic doctrine that these later verses supersede the earlier verses. Muhammad’s anger with the Jews is what led him to change the Muslim sabbath to Friday, the busiest business day of the Jewish week as it is the day before the Jewish Sabbath. This leads to another issue with the Qur’an and Hadith that a non-Muslim is not likely to even know about: that those seemingly peaceful verses are often superseded by the more violent ones that cause so much trouble.
