Here’s the first story:
Minority Report Realized: Creepy Homeland Security Mobile ‘Malintent’ Pre-Crime Screening System to Scan Americans at Large Events Passes First Round of Testing
Straight out of Minority Report a new Homeland Security program would subject Americans to pre-crime interrogations and physiological scans to detect people who are intending to commit a terrorist act at sports stadiums, malls, airports and other public places has moved closer to being implemented after the FAST program passed its first round of testing at an undisclosed location in northeast US.
The system uses a computer program that studies physiological indicators of a person, such as heart rate and the steadiness of a person’s gaze, and then uses the data to make a judgment on whether that individual has “malintent”.
And the second (which I wonder whether or not is intended to start giving legitimacy tot he idea of “science” helping to find criminals before they commit a crime):
Chris Matthews Actually Asks if Movie ‘Minority Report’ Could Become Reality to Capture Criminals Ahead of Time
My question:
When was the last time you read “1984?” Do you remember “thought crime?” If not, it might be time to read the book, or read it again.
My comment(s):
If you think this is all “fiction” and my concerns are unwarranted, you haven’t been paying attention. I have already posted stories about the number of agencies operating drones in America now (in excess of 160); about the cameras meant to monitor you in new smart TV’s; about the ability of govt. to use your cell phone and internet camera to monitor you; about on star being used to monitor you; about the government getting Google and FaceBook to report on you; and now there’s this to go along with the stories I just posted:
Is Skype Helping Law Enforcement Spy on Conversations?
If you do not see the threat in all of this, I suggest you do not understand liberty.
Lets see: Can we do a little hypothesis of “worse case scenario”?
This is PURE evil. NOW there will be “our computer program watched this person because he walked like this, or he was too calm, or he was looking intently at security officers instead of the dancing girls we provided. The subject was taking notice of where the emergency exits and stairwells were……”
America has “INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY” by legal and competent evidence.
In America the Criminal Burden of Proof for the STATE is “Beyond a Reasonable Doubt” for ACTS taken.
These PROCEDURE’S are equivalent to “GUILTY UNTIL THE ACCUSED PROVES HIS INNOCENCE.”
These VERY procedures are most likely UNCONSTITUTIONAL. These procedures are OPPOSITE to our current “US Constitutionally accepted actions for “Search and Seizure” and NOT GUILTY until proven innocent…..
ps. The video of your person will be archived and saved for future reference just in case. Welcome to the benevolent hand of our OLIGARCHY keeping track of your actions…. “we are just here to help” “we will need their help once they take away everyone’s tools for self defense”
Would you feel any differently if I were your TSA agent, baby? 😉
Instead of all this, we should just stick to profiling people because of their race and religion, right? 😉
Actually, Joe, we agree for a change (which must really bug you). I don’t use a cell phone except in emergencies, and was/am appalled by the Patriot Act (which, I’d point out for others, was opposed by more Democrats than Republicans). I also assigned this book for my media criticism class: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0700616861/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=0700615288&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1MGE251W9BXX74VR8J11
