Ooops! Didn’t Know That Was In There…

I guess we should have known what was in it before they passed it:

A provision of ObamaCare is set to punish roughly two-thirds of U.S. hospitals starting this fall over high readmission rates, according to an analysis by Kaiser Health News.

Starting in October, Medicare will reduce reimbursements to hospitals with high 30-day readmission rates — which refers to patients who return within a month — by as much as 1 percent. The maximum penalty increases to 2 percent the following year and 3 percent in 2014.

Doctors are concerned the penalty is unfair, since sometimes they have to accept patients more than once in a brief period of time but could be penalized for doing so — even for accepting seniors who are sick.

“Among patients with heart failure, hospitals that have higher readmission rates actually have lower mortality rates,” said Sunil Kripalani, MD, a professor with Vanderbilt University Medical Center who studies hospital readmissions. “So, which would we rather have — a hospital readmission or a death?”

You can send a thank-you note to Chief Justice John Roberts.

Wonder how long it will take for the hospitals to figure out that the fastest way to reduce readmission rates is not to readmit.

De facto rationing…death panels…cost control. Call it what you want, it is here. Live it, love it.

  1. There are also provisions to “bundle” payments in an effort to keep the hospital readmission rates down. The idea is, hospital gets reimbursed X amount of dollars for the whole event, but has to ensure the patient does not return within 30 days. The hospital then pays rehab and or home health care to care for the patient following their hospital stay.

Sounds pretty good upfront, right? Well, most hospital costs exceed the reimbursement, so then what?

Healthcare rationing, that’s what. No inpatient rehab, or home health agency will accept a patient who has expended the reimbursement funding.

Another item on the table to be initiated in the new year is a co-pay for home health services by the patient’s themselves. The figure debated right now is $150 per certification (60 days) …. payable not to the home health agency, but to Medicare itself.

Think about that one for a moment. Think that in anyway helps the indigent disadvantaged?

Welcome to benevolent liberal socialism. Welcome to Obamacare.

    • I know people will tell me I am spouting another crazy conspiracy theory, but for those of you who know me, please try to keep in mind that I have been reading what these people have written for almost three years now, OK?

The more I hear about Obamacare, the more I am convinced that it is an integral part to “humanly” depopulate the world, starting with the elderly, infirm and “useless eaters” in the nation they have most control over — US!

NOTE: To those who would object,

No, I am not exaggerating, nor am I making it up. If you doubt me, look into Ezekiel Emanuel and the Whole or Complete Lives System. Also, start looking at the people who advance the environmentalist cause. You will find many of them link the availability of cheap and abundant energy to overpopulation, which is why they oppose energy independence for America: because they WANT to reduce the global population. They’re just through less draconian methods such as making energy expensive, food scarce and rationing healthcare — for now, anyway. Keep in mind, they believe this is their moral duty because they have a superior understanding of the threat, and because they are out to save mankind and, more importantly, the planet.

This IS all tied together. If you doubt me, just ask: I’ll tell you where to go to start finding the pieces of the puzzle. It will then be up to you to start putting them together.

      • Black, I humbly disagree with one of your assertions. This isn’t a plan to depopulate the world. It’s the “progressives” plan to depopulate America of Americans to make room for themselves and their, in Woodrow Wilson’s words, “beehive”.

  2. M., it’s already happening. A neurologist prescribed a CSCAN to my friend’s mom but the code wouldn’t go through. The doc gave several other codes which still wouldn’t go through. So they told my friend’s mom she had arthritis in the neck (even though brain tumors run in the family), prescribed a drug, and sent her on her merry way. I told her this is only the beginning and posted your Heritage link.
