  1. Reagan ran a classy campaign? How classy is using Carter’s debate briefing book, stolen from the White House by a Reagan supporter? An honorable man, a ‘classy’ guy, would have refused to use something obtained in such a sleazy manner, but Reagan was a sleazy guy with nice smile.
In case you doubt the truth, here is George Will admitting, in a letter to Jimmy Carter, to being a part of this great moment in Politics:..

“Regarding your briefing book, I will tell you what I have told many others. When I got to David Stockman’s house on the day he was preparing to play the role of you in the debate preparations, he had on his kitchen table what I gather was the briefing book. I do not know how he got it; more to the point, I do not know who thought having it would be helpful. Frankly, you deserved better. My cursory glance at it convinced me that it was a crashing bore and next to useless — for you, or for anyone else.”

Will seems to be saying that it was okay, since the material sucked and wouldn’t have helped Carter, who would have lost anyway.

Except that Carter may not have lost, had the country known what a sneaky, underhanded Reagan team had done.

    • Yeah. 21% interest rates, gas rationing/lines, runaway inflation and “malaise” had nothing to do with the Reagan landslide – it was that stolen briefing book, and arms for hostage deal that H.W. Bush brokered after flying to Iran on an SR-71 Blackbird and aliens…don’t forget the aliens.

    • “Except that Carter may not have lost, had the country known what a sneaky, underhanded Reagan team had done.”

Well thank God that Reagan’s team didn’t use the word “Chicago” —- then you could have hung “racists” on them as well. 🙂

  2. Greg is still bitter that the Peanut farmer from Plains lost….. Jimmy had Billy Beer and Barack has Barry Beer… Same stale taste… same stale policies. America deserves better.
