WARN, We Don’t Need No Stinkin WARN Act

It amazes me how blatant the Obama administration is with the total disregard for this Nation’s laws. You know President Obama if you don’t like the laws on the books then be a leader and work with those in the Congress to have the law changed or repealed.

I believe you will see how this process is played out as when Mr Romney takes up residence in the White House as his promised first order of business will be to repeal the widely unpopular Affordable Healthcare Act (Tax).

See the rest at the Dryer Report…. and leave a thought behind.  No unmatched socks please.

  1. You do realize also that Obama who made a video about the Stafford Act, had voted against it prior to that now famous racist speech. Simply stated … Obama speaks to one race of people totally different than he does another.

Silly me, I thought all men were created equal.

    • It’s the primary (and only) function of a “community organizer:” to cause unrest and disorder by setting people against each other. After all, unless you have the conflict, then no one has any need to “organize.” 🙂

    • No Augger,
The basis of belief for the statist/Marxist/modern Democrat believes some are inferior, or favored, to others, so “the one” will decide who gets a head start and take from those they dislike and give to those they favor.

      Oligarchy re-created.

      The result ? A new dictatorship !

  2. Ummm. So let’s look at what we are REALLY talking about here. The CEO of a corporation (lockheed-martin) who receives 82% of their income from amercian taxpayers, playing political games. Threatening to layoff thousands of workers days before the election. Because of the mandatory budget cuts that will go into effect Jan 2nd due to the political games played with the debt ceiling.

And let’s not pull punches here. He has backed off this move not because of the WARN actm but because of assurances from the DOD that there would be no cancellation of contracts on Jan 2nd.

But still. Let’s see. The mandatory budget cuts, a whopping $50 billion, would return the military budget to it’s state in 2007. Still more then the next 17 nations combined. Under Bush. At a time when not even defense hawks were claiming the military budget was to low. But because the tea party and the far right of the GOP are currently trying to pass a law to override these cuts, cuts their own intranciance on budget matters mandated, this CEO went beofre congress preaching gloom and doom, and threatening, yes threatening the american government and its taxpayers with massive layoffs if they did not get their cut of the taxpayer money.

And of course, he knows damn well that his companies projects like the, to be polite, “troubled” F-35 Joint Strike Fighter are on the chopping block regardless.

And of course, we still have congress trying to end this cut. and Romney, who if elected, promising to increase the military budget by $150 billion. So there is no reason for a CEO to threaten to slash jobs, When cuts to their funding are not forthcoming, and if the, eventually do, he has no idea what area of the company they will impact. But of course, he is free to threaten to cut them in a key swing state, bamkig on the ignorance of americans for who is really responsible for these mandated cuts.

Talk about “entitled americans” sucking at the public teat. Are you honestly going to try and tell me you believe that Roberts Stevens actions were that of a patriotic american?

  3. Like I said before, so much dumbass packed in such a little space:

    I wrote about it here:

The WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) Act requires businesses who employ over 100 workers to either give their employees 60 days’ notice in writing of a mass layoff or plant closing, or to pay the employees if they fail to give the notice. It requires advance notice of loss of employment so workers have time to look for another job or receive training in another occupation.

This is a law.The 60 days are timed from the date of sequestration, not the election. Romney is not president so the companies have to act by law if they anticipate a mass layoff. Having experienced a mass layoff after 9/11, I know exactly of what I speak and I also know of companies that got fined for not doing so.

The defense industry employs over a million of those taxpayer sucking employees who not only protect but engineer ideas and build things for America – on the other hand, we have 46.68 million people on food stamps. According to a March 2012 report by Deloitte:

The industry is the largest net exporter, and one of the largest contributors to our nation’s gross exports at $89.6 billion, with a larger portion made up of commercial aircraft bound for foreign carriers. The industry’s contribution to the nation’s GDP is 2.23%, and as described below, we conclude the industry “punches above its weight,” when considering other beneficial and qualitative impacts to our economy beyond these metrics.

The Defense Department budget is 19% of the federal spend, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid make up 43%, other mandatory spending and interest on the debt adds another 19% – so federal spending that creates nothing and is required for “maintenance” equals 62% of the spend.

The Administration is clearly bribing companies to ignore the law:

But the Friday guidance from the Office of Management and Budget raised the stakes in the dispute, telling contractors that they would be compensated for legal costs if layoffs occur due to contract cancellations under sequestration — but only if the contractors follow the Labor guidance.

The guidance said that if plant closings or mass layoffs occur under sequestration, then “employee compensation costs for [Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification] WARN act liability as determined by a court” would be paid for covered by the contracting federal agency.

The only federal “jobs program” that you leftist morons hate is the only one that actually produces something – defense spending.

    • Well Utah, I leave the keyboard for a few drinks, and you beat me to the punch. (talk about backspacing) 🙂

“And let’s not pull punches here.” – yes, Drugs let’s not pull punches here. Utah understated “so much dumbass packed in such a little space”.

All you really did, is leave us the room the point out that the corrupt Obama administration, fearing the political ramifications just prior to an election, decided to lean on Lockeed-Martin to break the law.

At White House Request, Lockheed Martin Drops Plan to Issue Layoff Notices
      http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/10/at-white-house-request-lockheed-martin-drops-plan-to-issue-layoff-notices/

But I suppose you, and some others here feel that the Obama administration has risen above the laws that the of us have to live by.

      Nice job.

        • I’m just having another late night fit of insomnia here.

You’ve just about inspired me to take a Scottish vacation before it gets too cold.

          • Too late. Cold and rainy here today. Best time here is late spring early summer…but as long as you bring a raincoat, Scotland is unimaginably beautiful anytime of year. If I didn’t have to watch SEC football at 2 am on Sunday morning, I would stay…

    • So,

Will the CEO’s take the honest course of action and inform their employees of our Presidents actions ?

O is very likely to stiff all of them after the election IF he stays in power.

O is not a man of his word. Just watch. Are these CEO’s going to protect their employees, or a ghost of a man who is threatening them.

    • The Mr. Smith…. I was going to be way more succinct …. laws matter. You I like your approach as well…. bury him with facts and leave him like so much CRAP at the dump.

  4. So drugboy, do you think that the release of the bin Laden movie two days before the election is a CEO playing political games?

A big-name Hollywood fundraiser for Barack Obama is releasing the first feature film about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden two days before the US presidential election.

“SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden” is distributed by Harvey Weinstein, the respected movie mogul who hosted the president at a celebrity-studded fundraising event in New England last month.

In a press release, the National Geographic Channel said it would premiere

“SEAL Team Six” on November 4 after its president Howard Owens and Weinstein discussed “the insight the film is sure to evoke in all Americans.”

    Hmmmm.

No industry enjoys more tax breaks per dollar of revenue than Hollywood. The bankrupt state of California just gave Hollywood 200 million in tax breaks while raising corporate taxes on other businesses.

Again, so much dumbass in such a small space…
