Secession And That “Conversation On Race” Thing

There are people in two states who have initiated petitions for secession – Gateway Pundit notes that petitions in Louisiana and Texas have sprung up. A posting at a site called Grio, a site run by NBC that seems to be targeted predominantly at black Americans (I’ve never heard of it until now) has a discussion of secession, which predictably is reminding people of the civil war due to the connotation of the word.

But nowhere in these petitions is race mentioned. It is obviously imputed because in most people’s minds secession talk + a black president = racism. It can’t possibly be that the dominant political culture in America is pro-Marxist, pro – abortion, pro-homosexual, anti-religious and anti-Second Amendment, none of which are “black” or “white” issues.

I posted a question over there and am interested to see what responses I get:

May I ask, isn’t the very existence of this site, described as Rodney Neal Powell as a “black” site, not recognition and perpetuation of racism – “the only stupid ones are pathetic trailer park racists like yourself trolling in black sites.”? What makes a call for separation along race-blind political lines a racist proposition and Louis Farrakhan’s call for a separate nationbased on race not racist?You do know that secession petitions are not new and are not limited to southern states, do you not? They didn’t just start when Obama was elected. They have existed in geographic areas as diverse as New York and California.Black Christians, black business people, black people who seek to break out of dependence and all those who want to break out of the perceived cycle of white “domination” are the ones who are hurt under Obama – no different from the whites who believe the same way. Trading white dominance for dominance by government isn’t freedom and advancement, it is just a continuation of domination.I’m white and I would like to have that conversation on race – I’m not afraid to have it.

Since this is a self described “black” site, I would be curious to ask – what is it that black people see in Obama that causes you to think that he will change the circumstances in the black community? What did he accomplish in the last 4 years that changed your life?

I have to admit, I once considered secession a fringe idea, but in the hierarchy of freedom – political action, separation/secession, rebellion, I think we may be there.

Freedom seeking citizens of all ethnicity who are seeking a race-blind, preference free, non-government dominated culture are crushed by the weight of a central government empowered by structural Marxists disguised as Democrats and “progressives”. We are living in an age of tyranny by the majority. We are forced to accept compromises to our beliefs in order to enjoy the “benefits” of the union of states – but when the costs outweigh the benefits, what is our recourse?

As we have noted before, the natural right to throw off the yoke of oppression is enshrined in the Declaration of Independence:

That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Since the “progressivism” of the Woodrow Wilson age, there has been a constant erosion of rights of American citizens of this country – of all races. “Liberalism” and its Marxist adherents are clearly in ascendance and dominate our national government, our academia and our media. They have even changed with it means to be an “American”.

I believe that we have no obligation under man’s laws to surrender our natural rights to this unholy triumvirate. This is one reason why Marxists fear religion and our Constitution because they propose that there is a moral authority higher than government – God – and if God can be eliminated, the concept of natural rights is dissolved. I would remind us all of this in our foundational document:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…

If unity through political action is no longer tenable, then maybe it is time to talk about division.

    In all seriousness, secession is not only the legal and moral course at this point, it is also the most peaceful. I would point out that no one was ever charged or tried in connection to secession after the War of Northern Aggression ended — because the founders said it is legally permissible.

    HOWEVER, and this is equally serious, if we are to consider such a move, it must be done and done now. If you will note that map: that blue cancer has metastasized and is starting to spread. If it is not surgically removed from what remains of the healthy body soon, it never will be…

    @Michael Smith..We see MORE than Bush, Romney and Racist people like them. More could have been done if Republicans did not BLOCK everything “Just Because He is BLACK and want to Help all that have been hurt and forgotten about like People of color and poor people. Pres. Obama want change for ALL NOT JUST BLACK PEOPLE. Open your eyes and ears, LISTEN and SEE, do not hear and SEE only what you want to hear and SEE.

      That’s sad: sad because it is uttered in total ignorance of Obama’s expressed racism in both his books and in interviews — all of which were known before the 2008 election. Obama’s church is race-based, his agenda is driven by anti-colonialist racism. Everything about this man is centered on racism, so it’s only natural that like-minded supporters would see racism in everything. That’s what is meant by the old saying: when all you have is a hammer…

      I suppose Malcom X was correct: the Democrats have played these poor souls for chumps. 😦

    Honest question. What do you expect the government to do for you to make your circumstances better? What can Obama do that any other white Democrat president couldn’t? Setting aside that you seem to blame Republicans for his inability to get things done, what has he proposed (not done – just proposed) that is specifically helpful to the black community?

    @Rashad Abdul-Azeem : “Justice has come, the death of white supremacy.” What does that mean and how will that “justice” be achieved? Just electing a black man won’t change anything unless he does something. What is it that he will change?

    I really want to know because all I have seen on this thread is a bunch of platitudes, a lot of back slapping for re-electing a man who seems to have only one qualification – that he is black and some quite frankly, racist comments directed at whites.

  5. Pretty typical responses, I have had similar conversations and gotten even more vitriolic responses.

    The most disturbing, some radicals were asking why the military was embracing Romney, even though he ‘dodged the draft.’ This was July or so. I said, would you like to talk about what has been happening in Egypt? I didn’t even have to mention the rapes and the beheadings, and the response was, ‘oh no, we’re not going to get into that.’ The common everyday libs are going to be in for a shock when the wedding of Islam and Marxism hits home.
