Progressives Will ALWAYS Tell You What They Believe. You Just Have To Listen

Have you ever read one of my posts telling you that the Leftist believes he/she has a moral obligation to protect you from yourself?  Have you ever read one of my posts telling you that, if you look and listen, these people on the Left will tell you that this is what they believe?  Did you ever dismiss me because you didn’t believe me?  Well, you shouldn’t, because I’m right:

Judge halts mayor’s soda ban, calls it ‘arbitrary and capricious’

“I got to defend my children and you and everybody else and do what’s right to save lives,” he angrily said. “Obesity kills. There’s just no question about it.”

“This is not a political capital thing,” Bloomberg said. “This is just one human being to another. This is what we got to do.”

And there you go: Bloomberg just “has to save you.”  But it doesn’t stop there.  These people on the Left are collectivists: they do not see the individual, they only see this amorphous thing we call “society.”  Therefore, if they trample of even kill you in the process of “saving” you, it is acceptable to them – so long as they can convince themselves that they have saved the whole, then the ends justifies their means – any means.

Don’t doubt me on this one, please.  I’ve been reading far too much Leftist literature this past year or so and I’ve heard this refrain in one form or another as justification for nearly all of their ideas.  And though their ideas never agree with each other, they ALL have one thing in common.  They ALL seek to control everyone but themselves, and that is called tyranny.

  1. Joe,
Surely you can see your post is not right-minded. Mayor Bloomberg is trying to help us, Joe. How can you doubt his good intentions? Everyone knows obesity kills people. Joe, you don’t want to kill people, do you? What if the children drink these large sugary drinks and get obese and die? You don’t want to kill little children, do you Joe? We have to do what the mayor says, otherwise little children will die. Joe, we have to do this, it’s for the children.

  2. Judge Tingling just sent a tingle up my leg: “The rule would not only violate the separation of powers doctrine, it would eviscerate it,” Tingling wrote. “Such an evisceration has the potential to be more troubling than sugar sweetened drinks.”

Unfortunately, I must now reconsider my 16 oz. soda-bootlegging to NY idea.
