I’m going to try something different with this post. I am going to just post some stories and leave you to see if you can make the connections I made. Think of the stories as bread crumbs; now see if you can figure out where the trail is leading us.
Top secret documents submitted to the court that oversees surveillance by US intelligence agencies show the judges have signed off on broad orders which allow the NSA to make use of information “inadvertently” collected from domestic US communications without a warrant.
Russ Tice, a former intelligence analyst and Bush-era NSA whistleblower, claimed Wednesday that the intelligence community has ordered surveillance on a wide range of groups and individuals, including high-ranking military officials, lawmakers and diplomats.
He also made another stunning allegation. He says the NSA had ordered wiretaps on phones connected to then-Senate candidate Barack Obama back in 2004.
OK, so, does this all add up to another conspiracy theory, or is it enough smoke for you to decide there is a fire here and we need to start paying attention to it?
[PLEASE NOTE: I did not address the legality of any of this. I am driving at the principle governing what a free and self-governing society should allow, as opposed to what is being allowed.]
