O-Care premiums to skyrocket

Not my words, The Hills’ words:

Health industry officials say ObamaCare-related premiums will double in some parts of the country, countering claims recently made by the administration.

The industry complaints come less than a week after Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sought to downplay concerns about rising premiums in the healthcare sector. She told lawmakers rates would increase in 2015 but grow more slowly than in the past.

Her comment baffled insurance officials, who said it runs counter to the industry’s consensus about next year.

“It’s pretty shortsighted because I think everybody knows that the way the exchange has rolled out … is going to lead to higher costs,” said one senior insurance executive who requested anonymity.

The insurance official, who hails from a populous swing state, said his company expects to triple its rates next year on the ObamaCare exchange.

David Cutler, who has been called an architect of Obama-Care, said, “Health premiums increase every year, so the odds are very good that they will increase next year as well.  None of that is news.  The question is whether it will be a lot or a little.  That depends in part on how big the insurers think the exchanges will be.”

Jon Gruber, who also helped design the Affordable Care Act, said, “The bottom line is that we just don’t know. Premiums were rising 7 to 10 percent a year before the law. So the question is whether we will see a continuation of that sort of single digit increase, as Sebelius said, or whether it will be larger.”

In Iowa, which hosts the first presidential caucus in the nation and has a competitive Senate race this year, rates are expected to rise 100 percent on the exchange and by double digits on the larger, employer-based market, according to a recent article in the Business Record.

“Skyrocket”, where have I heard that before?  Skyrocketing insurance rates for health insurance are purposeful just as they are in the energy sector.  Afterall, how else does one pay for tens of thousands of new government agents to enforce this law upon an unwilling People?

    • Its the last year of the democrats. They can’t run on these radical progressive agendas anymore. Obamacare will be the death nail in the coffin for the modern democrat party. If they want to win again, they are going to have to start running more conservative candidates who are willing to compromise, and repeal his atrocity.

      • Betchya he tries to rig the polls. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least. Holder the Henchman is all down with that. They know their goose is cooked.

In my opinion, the last sane Democrat was Lieberman, who, as I recall, switched parties.

                • Romney is a good man, a hard working man. Honestly he is a shinning example for us all to follow. Yes he came from a well to do family, but his father made him make his own way in the world. The problem was not that he was too nice, but rather he was too progressive.

Romney is a moderate, the man that the progressives told us could win the independents. The independent voters that, according to the progressives in the Democrat party the GOP has to win, in order to win elections.

The progressives pundits, and strategists actually convinced the GOP to abandon their political base. theoretically the country is divided into three groups. The progressives, moderates, and conservatives. 40% of the country are progressives, 40% of the country are conservatives, that leaves 20% in the middle up for grabs. The genius of the Democrat party is that they are constantly able to manipulate the GOP establishment into running a candidate trying to win only 20% of the population. The Democrat party actually convinces the GOP that they want to share their votes. The progressives in the Democrat party actually convince the GOP establishment to abandon their base, abandon their beliefs, because they are too toxic.

The progressives concinced the GOP that after George W. Bush a conservative could never win, so they nominated that progressive “maverick of the senate” John McCain. He lost to the radical progressive Barack Obama. Of President Obama did not run as a radical, he tried to appear as a moderate. He talked about ending the abuse of executive power many saw under the Bush administration. He talked about ending the secrecy of government. He talked about reducing the debt, ending wars. He talked almost as if he was going to reduce the size of government…. reduce the size of government. Of course anyone with a sentient mind, and a nose for history, could have shown you the radical that he truly was. But with the media in your pocket you can pull off almost any lie.

2010 came around, the radical revealed, and the GOP lead by the limited government Taxed Enough Already party, swept the house. The conservative candidates swept the house. They did not run on moderate, “well, maybe, sometimes, wait that’s not what I said” platforms, they ran on “limited government, rule of law” platforms. Although progressive bigots and zealots will tell you otherwise.

2012 comes around, and rather than build off of the success of the conservative campaigns of 2010, the GOP Establishment once again choose to ignore the conservative base of their party, they chose instead to listen to Democrat pundits, who informed the Establishment of the GOP that only a moderate could win the election. That Romney’s wishy washy, moderate stance could win the election.

Now Romney ran a more conservative campaign, and he won more states than John McCain did, but he still lost. Why?

Was it because he was too conservative, did his radical ideas of simplifying the tax code, scare away the independents? The answer is no. Romney won the independent vote. Romney beat President Obama 50-45 amongst independent voters. Yet he lost the overall race 51-48. So he beat President Obama by 5 points amongst independent voters, but lost by a margin of 3 points. How did he lose the election, he won the independents. He won what the Democrats told the GOP establishment they had to win. How could he have lost?

The answer is not that he was too conservative, or too nice, but rather because he was too progressive. Three million, 3,000,000 voters who voted against President Obama in 2008, did not show up to vote in 2012. Romney’s limp wristed politics might have won him the independents, but it failed to inspire the conservative base.

Moderate candidates cannot win elections. President Obama won, only because the press was in his pocket, covering up his radical history.

The democrat party is in trouble. They cannot win elections on their radical agenda anymore. The special election in Florida’s 13th district showed us that. That election was gift wrapped for them. A political rookie vs. a former gubernatorial candidate with massive name recognition, in a district that President Obama swept in both 2008 and 2012. She ran a vicious race, on progressive issue such as “climate change”, and still she lost. She was even given the gift of a libertarian candidate, who syphoned 5% of the vote away from the GOP candidate and she still lost.

The progressives know Obamacare will be their downfall. They cannot run from it. So they have two choices, either A, they run a conservative candidate that actually has a legitimate chance of winning, or B. they convince the GOP candidate to run a moderate candidate who will be easy cannon fodder for them.

Nominating true limited government conservative candidates is the only way to win elections for the GOP. Democrats know this, and they will start pressuring the GOP establishment soon. For 2016, we will soon start hearing how “Chris Christie is the only man who can win the independents. He won in a democrat state. He is the guy the GOP has to nominate.” And if a progressive like Christie, or a moderate like Marco Rubio gets the nomination, Hilary Clinton will be President.

Conservative or bust, that is the only way.

                  • Jolly beating Sink was major down here. I don’t think folks realize the blow that awaits the D’s in Nov. It’s funny that you mention Christie; I actually did a funny pic of him on the FB. It said, ” I thought you said close the fridge, not the bridge!” I tell you, I’m hoping Paul and Cruz share a ticket. The tricky thing? The low information voter. I really feel that it’s our job to get out there on blogs and post facts. Social media can be our ally……for now (if ya know what I mean, and I think that ya do.)

                    • I do. If you run a principled conservative, such as Rand Paul, or Ted Cruz, the low information voters will sort themselves out. They can articulate their beliefs, far better than a progressive trying to mask their true nature.

We do have to go out into the blogosphere, and make sure that the truth gets out there, and expose the progressive narrative for the fantasy it is.

  1. What President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and The Soft Spoken Tyrant Harry Reid lied to us about Obamacare! Conservatives have been warning the nation that this was going to happen sense before Obamacare passed. Progressives tried to silence us, claiming we were just being racists, haters, you’ve heard the names. Well now the law that no one wanted is going to sink those who forced it on us.

It is just a shame that it had to come to this.
