Anterograde Amnesia: The Memento Democrats

mementoIn the 2000 film “Memento”, Director Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception) introduced movie audiences to Leonard Shelby, a former insurance investigator with anterograde amnesia resulting from an injury sustained that was associated with the murder of his wife. Anterograde amnesia is a loss of the ability to create new memories after the event that caused the amnesia, leading to a partial or complete inability to recall the recent past, while long-term memories from before the event remain intact.

It would appear that the Democrats are trapped in a real life version of “Memento”.

From the Jekyll and Hyde-like transformations of Senator/President Obama’s on camera reversals on gay marriage, executive orders, NSA spying, keep your plan/doctor and Hillary’s multiple scandals – hey, the Benghazi and email things are just right-wing crazytalk – it is clear that there is a rampant epidemic of viral anterograde amnesia in the Democrat party.

They are hoping to induce a case of national anterograde amnesia in November.

For goodness sake – we have both a two term President and a the likely Democrat nominee who lie with impunity to the American people. Out loud, in public and with conviction…and yet the media either ignores it or explains it away as “over suggesting” or attacks from the VRWC (Vast Right Wing Conspiracy). We have so-called “public servants” in government who lie, parse or take the Fifth under oath and in front of Congressional committees – as America lets out a collective yawn.

We have this dishonesty going all the way back to Nixon’s “plausible deniability”. It continued with Clinton’s “it depends on what the definition of “is” is” to the current iteration of Obama and his minions shoveling loads of horse manure about some mythic “recovery” and jobs that were “saved or created”. As we now know, Obama lied about almost every aspect of the health care bill from “you can keep your current plan” and it will “bend the cost curve” to “nobody but your doctor will see your records”, yet when Representative Joe Wilson gave voice to what many were thinking, he was summarily vilified. Hillary has lied about Benghazi, her email server, the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Crime Family Foundation and Massage Parlor and God knows what else.

In this contemporary age, political positions and elected offices are the only jobs on the face of the Earth obtained and held by talking about the job rather than doing the actual job. One wonders that if politicians would actually do what they claim to do, that they would demonstrably achieve stated goals, would there even be need for political campaigns? In a basic bit of common decency, isn’t it incumbent on our leadership to be honest with us and stop the lying? When we get to the point that an outright lie told by a president is defined as “over suggesting”, we have simply gone too far.

We are witness to the hyperbolic reasoning of every hysterical “activist”, how every Screen-Shot-2016-04-30-at-10.12.29-AM“subjugated class” presumes to claim their little slice of the pie due to some presumed “wrong” done to them by someone, somewhere, at some point in the revisionist version of their history. I always marvel at both the “reparations” crowd wailing about slavery like only American blacks were subject to that reprehensible institution and the “multitud enojada” (angry mob) of La Raza claiming that the Southwest is really “Azteca” – their “ownership” probably would come as a great surprise to the Apache, Comanche, Havasupai, Hopi, Jemez, Kiowa, Kiowa Apache, Lipan, Maricopa, Mohave, Navaho, Paiute, Papago, Panamint, Pecos, Pima, Pueblo, Shoshoni, Sobaipuri, Tewa Pueblos, Ute, Walapai, Yavapai, Yuma and Zuñi and the Anasazi, who predated all of them.

Just like the unfounded slurs of “racism” so casually thrown at the Tea Party these days, with each illegitimate claim the true wrongs of history are diminished.

This is what the Democrats are asking us to forget.

Sometime in the late 1840s, Comrade Marx of Communist Manifesto fame had argued that people only believe they think freely. The truth, as Marx attempted to demonstrate, is that their ideas only reflect those ideas of the ruling class, the dominant ideology, and are therefore false. Many scholars say that Marx called this “false consciousness.” He never actually used those words but his writings indicate that he did believe that the bourgeoisie somehow forced their beliefs on the proletariat, the minds of which were just too weak to withstand the 19th century version of a Vulcan mind-meld.

The Democrats are not victims of anterograde amnesia, they are just shameless liars who are really hoping that Marx’s idea of “false consciousness” is a real thing and that they can use it to fool enough of the weak-minded, ignorant and low information citizens of America to retain power.

  1. Utah, at least the little boy with the sign is not in favor raising the minimum wage. “Make America Mexico Again” so they can have a $4 a day living wage like they have in Mexico if you take into account the Peso is sinking like a rock against the US$.

If his parent(s) like Mexico so much all they have to do is swim back across the river. All the great benefits of a failed state are their’s for the taking.
