Forgiving the Unforgivable

My grandfather always told me that you learn the most about a man when he has nothing to lose. I thought about this lesson last night as I wound up my workday and began to ruminate on the pardons, clemencies and the commutations being issued by soon to be former President Obama.

Thankfully, the “former” title will accrue to him very, very soon.

The President has, in defiance of any logic or principle, issued clemency to Bradley/Chelsea Manning, a proven traitor who leaked actual operational military information that got people killed. Also, included in the controversial clemencies were Gen. James Cartwright – who admitted to leaking classified information regarding Stuxnet and Puerto Rican terrorist Oscar Lopez-Rivera (Bill Clinton granted clemency to most FALN members in 1999).

The clemency actions also include a slew of people convicted of drug offenses, something to be expected from a former (?) member of the Choom Gang.

Quoted in Yahoo News, the President’s White House counsel, Neil Eggleston, said the reason for these pardons was “forgiveness”: “…our nation is a forgiving nation, where hard work and a commitment to rehabilitation can lead to a second chance, and where wrongs from the past will not deprive an individual of the opportunity to move forward.”

How noble of them.

What about Kristian Saucier, the sailor who was sentenced to a year in prison for taking photos of classified areas inside a nuclear attack submarine while it was in port in Connecticut? Why does Hillary Clinton deserve a pass when Saucier doesn’t?

Why issue clemency to Bradley/Chelsea Manning as your party uses supposed Russian “influence” as the basis to charge that a freely elected president is illegitimate unless you really believe nothing you have said about Russian “hacking”? So releasing operational data that gets people killed is cool, it is releasing emails from the DNC is an unforgivable crime?

Why release an admitted and unrepentant terrorist who built bombs in his apartment to facilitate attacks on US interests unless you agree with his “cause”? In this, Obama is most like former President Jimmy Carter, a man who never met a Marxist dictator he didn’t want to hug. Deep down inside, all Democrats hate America’s supposed hegemony and imperialism – this allows them to be quite comfortable with Marxists.

Initially I thought these clemency actions were an example of a man and a political party with no principles but after thinking about it, these actions clearly represent the principles of a Democrat Party completely steeped in progressivism. Their principles include “forgiveness” only if America’s national security is compromised or you are a fellow Marxist bomber down with the struggles of the proletariat (like the FALN).

Nothing that happens in the next 48 hour would surprise me – not even a pardon for cop killers JoAnne Chesimard (Assata Olugbala Shakur) or Mumia Abu-Jamal. Presidential spokesliar Josh Earnest has already teased that Obama will be setting more terrorists free from GITMO.

What people do is a far better bellwether of their core values than what they say. What this says is that Democrats should never be taken seriously when they talk about national security…or anything else for that matter.

  1. Looks to me like King Barry is ok with criminals using guns but not responsible citizens. But then, I never did believe he was very smart.
