The Birth of the Progressive Venus

I must admit, I watch the rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with some degree of amusement. I’ve compared her splash on the contemporary political scene to the origin story of the Greek goddess Aphrodite (Venus in Roman mythology).

In this older of the two stories of Aphrodite’s birth, she emerges from the sea a grown woman. In this story she has no mother and her father is Uranos, the god of the sky. It takes place two generations before Zeus, when Uranos reigned with his wife Gaia, the goddess of the earth. The story details how Uranos hated his children and hid them in the depths of the earth until Gaia, loathing her husband, devised a plan with her son Cronus, equipping Cronus with a sickle and when Uranos next came to sleep with Gaia, Cronus chopped off his genitals. When the severed parts fell into the ocean, Uranos’ testicles produced a white sea foam and from this foam emerged the goddess Aphrodite.

It is a scene famously depicted in Italian artist Sandro Botticelli’s classic painting “The Birth of Venus”.

Today, the misandrists in the Democrat Party are represented by Gaia and the misanthropes by Cronus. The contemporary Gaia and Cronus have gelded the Democrats just as ancient Gaia and Cronus gelded Uranos. They cast the testicles of the Democrat Party on the sea and from the resulting putrid, primordial foam stepped forth the fully formed Aphrodite Ocasio-Cortez.

The attached article about the internecine war in the Democrat party, specifically the feud between soon to be ex-Senator Claire McKaslill and newly minted democratic socialist Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reminds me of the Bush/Dukakis (Dana Carvey/Jon Lovitz) debate skit on SNL from October 1988 (when SNL was funny):

Diane Sawyer: You have fifty seconds left, Mr. Vice-President.

George Bush: Let me sum up. On track, stay the course. Thousand points of light.

Diane Sawyer: Governor Dukakis. Rebuttal?

Michael Dukakis: I can’t believe I’m losing to this guy!

Jan Hooks portrayed Sawyer.

McKaskill can’t seem to believe she is out of the Senate and a high-functioning useful idiot like AOC got elected to the House.

Welcome to the new Democrat Party, Claire.

This is what your party has created. AOC is your Frankenstein’s monster, stitched from exhumed parts of dead ideas and failed ideologies – she is EXACTLY the type of person the Democrats have worked for decades to create. She’s not a liberal Democrat, she is a blind faith progressive, someone impervious to reality or logic. Her life force is progressivism, It is who she is, what she does and why she exists – her very reason for being.

The problem is, she doesn’t know she is a monster. You created her to be controlled – a cog in the machine – but like Dr. Frankenstein’s creation, she became self-aware. She actually thinks she has her own free will, and that is problematic for your party.

This is your Democrat Party, Claire. You broke it, you bought it.

  1. Micheal,
I really enjoy your writing. Thank you for sharing.

But I have a question for you. How come sometimes you send things from “The Rio Norte Line,” sometimes you send things from “Unlicensed Punditry,” and sometimes you send the same article from both? It makes it difficult to keep up with what you write, and avoid missing things. It would be great if you would merge the lists and consolidate to one. Or at least publish everything from both, so that people can unsubscribe from one.

Once again, thank you for writing and sharing. I really appreciate it.
