The Captain Ahab Democrats, through their quest to harpoon their Great Orange Whale, have taken America to the brink.

They have clearly established that they 1) don’t trust the American electorate to select their own leaders, 2) prefer bureaucratic trial by combat rather than jurisprudence, 3) believe they are above everyone else and subject only to their own malleable rules and 4) have a divine right to rule.

It’s not that they have a double standard, because they actually do have a single standard. The fact is that they see THEMSELVES as the standard and measure everyone and everything against that. That standard is on full display in the way Adam Schiff is handling the “impeachment inquiry that is neither impeachment nor inquiry.

Even then, the old bromide of “The only thing constant is change” applies here – the Democrat standard is ever evolving, situational, constantly moving set of goalposts but it is their standard and as long as they are willing to exempt themselves from it, they are cool with the damage they do.

The late Charles Krauthammer said “To understand the workings of American politics, you have to understand this fundamental law: Conservatives think liberals are stupid.
Liberals think conservatives are evil.”

It is as if they all want to be Tomás de Torquemada, forcing Republicans to wear a sanbenito, a penitential garment worn over clothing and bearing a design that specifies the type of penitence.

God help us if the Republicans ever adopt such a perspective.

Because there is no question that the only honor on display during the past three years in Congress has come from the right. The actions of the Republicans have been, for the most part, on the up and up, according to established rules and traditions and they at least tried to find some degree of comity and fairness.

Not so after the Democrats took over. They got up to Warp 9 so fast, there is little doubt the entire impeachment clown car parade got off to a rolling start.

Contrast the handling of the Intel Committee with Devin Nunes to the “leadership” of Adam Schiff. Nunes never treated the Democrats on the committee the way Schiff has treated the Republicans.

The only thing, and I do mean the ONLY thing that has kept us from open warfare to date has been the willingness of the Republicans to let the Democrat Kabuki play out – not because they want to do it – because they understand how much damage twin Torquemada’s could do.
