I’ve been trying to find a way to explain what I have been feeling since I first heard the term “culture war”. For a very long time, I’ve felt that a mere spat over culture didn’t really get at the root of the vitriol, hatred and now, the violence.

AOSHQ has this compilation of tweets from conservative lawyer Ron Coleman that takes me where I was trying to go. It isn’t that we have been fighting a culture war, we have been fighting a war of morality, one in which the radical left has created their own moral code that is separate and apart from our traditional moral code. This is what allows them to abandon logic and reason, to fabricate an alternate reality out of lies and to destroy without conscience or remorse.

Cultural divides can be healed, moral divides cannot. The only remedy for moral divides is when one civilization destroys the other…and that is where we are headed. When moral divides exist, no amount of money, property, status, apology or reparation will end them and anything goes in the prosecution of the war and the quest for victory. Nothing is off the table.

General Patton once told the troops that you can’t win a war if you are not prepared to play by the rules of your enemy. If you are not willing to go as low as – and maybe even lower than – your enemy, to do at least as much harm to him as he is willing to do to you, you will lose.

Radical progressives are willing to do whatever it takes, no matter how low, to win. When they adopted postmodern philosophy as a guiding principle, all constraints were removed. Principles, societal mores, religious beliefs and lack of the consent of the governed were no longer obstacles, they became minor annoyances.

It’s not black and white as racial strife is understood, but it is black and white as we understand clarity. More in focus for me now than ever.

America has essentially split into two competing civilizations, each with their own rules and mores. The ties that have bound us together for two centuries are now loosed. This is not a Civil War, it is a Moral War. The Civil War was tagged as “brother against brother”, this war is truly what Jefferson feared – the bellum omnium in omnia, the war of all against all.

These civilizations will not be content to compete over forms and methods of government – moral divides create a war over every single aspect of human existence, down to the DNA level (the assertion that whites are naturally racist is but one example). Nothing is off limits – and the war will be total, as the victory must be. I have said this before – the war is coming to your door and there will be no innocent bystanders.

We have been fighting at low intensity for a while now, I fear we are entering the all or nothing phase of this Moral War.
