We Are The Ones We Were Waiting For

I quote F.A. Hayek quite a bit – but for me, two books, Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” and Hayek’s “The Road to Serfdom”, could be, as the old “Law and Order” intro said, “Ripped from the headlines.”

These books – Hayek’s published in 1944 and Rand’s in 1957 – are prescient in predicting the events of today. Ha! It’s almost as if a slide toward oppressive collectivism and its outcome is predictable! Who knew?!

Anyone with a functioning brain.

But we all know that the persistent forms of collectivism – socialism, Marxism and communism – have never really failed because it has never been done right. For my friends on the left who can’t recognize sarcasm – that was sarcasm.

Rand’s antagonists in “Atlas” might as well be the Democrat Party of today. With a few minor adjustments, the names of Biden, Harris, Schumer, Pelosi, Schiff, Cuomo, Whitmer and Newsom could be easily substituted for the characters in Rand’s classic tome. Biden’s economic plan might as well feature an “Anti-Greed Act” to redistribute income, an “Equalization of Opportunity Act” to prevent people from starting more than one business (to give other people a chance) and an “Anti-Dog Eat Dog Act” to restrict competition and keep poor performing businesses in operation (competition is unfair – and probably racist – you see).

But the contemporary repression by governors in the major “blue states” puts the corrupt leaders in “Atlas” to shame. To borrow words from Dr. Floyd Ferris of the State Science Institute – and I can see these words tumbling out of the pie hole of Michigan’s governor, Gretch “The Wretch” Whitmer (who reportedly was the inspiration for Ursula the Sea Witch in Disney’s “Little Mermaid”):

“You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and you’d better get wise to it. There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted—and you create a nation of law-breakers—and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system, Mr. Rearden, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”

As I considered the media blackout of the Biden/Harris campaign and Quid Pro Joe and Hunter’s real troubles last night, this passage from Hayek’s “Road” came to mind:

“It is not difficult to deprive the seat majority of independent thought. But the minority who will retain an inclination to criticize must also be silenced. Public criticism or even expressions of doubt must be suppressed because they tend to weaken support of the regime. As Sidney and Beatrice Webb report of the position in every Russian enterprise: ‘Whilst the work is in progress, any public expression of doubt that the plan will be successful is an act of disloyalty and even of treachery because of its possible effect on the will and efforts of the rest of the staff.'”

The Party books no dissent or expression of disloyalty. If you are prevented from knowing about the metastasized corruption in the Party, you will not be able to speak about it and the Party will be able to continue to prosper under the leadership of the malevolent.

How “1984” of the Democrats and their allies in the media Ministry of Truth…

“Road” and “Atlas” were fictional warnings about where we could be heading. Biden, Harris and the Democrats are the real life characters hell bent on doing real damage to our freedoms and liberty because they actually believe freedom is bad, racist, sexist and every other “ist” of which they can concieve.

I once wrote something that compared Trump to Sir John Hawkwood, the commander of the greatest mercenary army of the 14th Century, the White Company. Of Trump, I said he was our mercenary – “He is not OF us but he is FOR us.

You may not like him for many valid reasons, but believe you me, you do NOT want a taste of the Marxism planned by the Democrats. The only choice, the only possibility to keep the flame of freedom burning, is a vote for the President and every single down ballot Republican.
