I have often noted how progressives base their beliefs on lies. They always start with their outcome and the build a base of lies to support that outcome – and then fill in the gaps with truth and half-truths.

But there should also be a focus on how they lie though the modification of language. There is a recent story about Dictionary dot com changing the definition of “court packing” to something it never has meant to agree with what radical partisan progressive Democrats need it mean is just one example – but it is an important one. It is significant because where words like “racist” and “racism” have had changes in connotation, the implicit meaning of a word, this is a change in the denotation, the explicit meaning of a word.

So, a president, by nominating people of conservative, originalist views of our Constitution to vacant court positions is now “court packing”.

Just how many times do you think this term will be applied when a Democrat president nominates progressive, living document, judges to those vacant positions?

Yeah, you got it. It might not be zero, but it will approach zero.

The entire point is that language is being made political by design. This is beyond simple partisanship, Humpty Dumpty’s idea that a word can mean whatever you want it to mean as long as you are the master is at play here – and when there are many masters, there are many meanings.

Language is the way mankind agrees on the interpretation and meaning of the natural world but as many accurately state, when a word can mean anything, it means nothing.

The real endpoint of this is a fracturing of society at large into smaller segments that only understand their own language and cannot communicate with other segments because, even though they may use the same words, the meanings are so different as to be incomprehensible.

As I considered where this ultimately leads, I thought about Genesis Chapter 11, verses 1-19.

That is the segment of the Bible that describes the Tower of Babel.

According to Genesis, the Babylonians wanted to make a name for themselves by building a mighty city and a tower “with its top in the heavens.” Most secular accounts of this story assume it was recounted simply to explain why the Earth has so many languages and dialects, but I see a different meaning.

In verse 6, it says: “And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.”

The key here is the last part: “…and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.”

I think this shows the arrogance mankind and our penchant for getting too big for our britches. The purpose of the tower was to reach not just the heavens, but THE Heaven, to look upon the face of God, proving that man was equal to God.

So to sort of show man who is the boss, Verses 7 and 8 say:

“7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. 8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.”

God disrupted the work by so confusing the language of the workers that they could no longer understand one another. As a result, the tower was never completed, and the people were dispersed to the four corners of the Earth.

I believe the Bible was created by man but inspired by God. I also believe it is a historical record, allegorical in nature at times, historically accurate in others, but nevertheless based on interpretations and perceptions of actual events. I also believe history doesn’t repeat due to man’s ignorance of it, it repeats due to man’s arrogance in spite of history. It is not that we can’t learn from history, it is because we simply refuse to.

Much like the ancient Babylonians of the Bible, contemporary mankind has become arrogant once again.
One wonders if the story of the Tower of Babel was historically accurate or simply based on an allegorical tale of what happens when humans arrogate powers to themselves that are simply too much for them to handle.

One wonders.
