Breaking Bonds

My wife said Big Tech’s actions are just like China.

I said their actions are worse.

“How so?” she asked.

“At least the Chinese let you know what your social credit score is before they make you a non-person,” I said.

These companies making the charge that they are clamping down on Parler and conservatives in general due to “disinformation” and “incitement” cannot support those charges as long as they allow the leftist hate speech and images to remain (Kathy Griffin, the Mullahs, pretty much any CNN employee).

But if you think Big Tech is doing this on their own, you are nuts.

They really have no interest in going full commie, but the actions of people like Lieawatha Warren, Bernie Sanders, AOC and the communists in Seattle talking about taking an ax to their forest of money trees got their attention.

“Nice little Section 230 carve-out you have there Zuckerberg and Jack, be a shame if anything happened to it,” Democrats are saying through back channels. “Properly incentivized, we might just be able to help you with that.”

Big Tech doesn’t want to kill the golden goose.

Democrats want to use Big Tech to clamp down on their opposition, Big Tech wants to keep raking in that sweet monopoly money (not from the game, from being an actual protected monopoly) and Democrats want their cut of the profits.

The Democrat Party is little different from a criminal enterprise.

History will show that the use of the ban hammer was a deal between the Democrat powerbrokers and Big Tech to silence opposition in exchange for protection and contributions – and to keep the far left in the Party under control.

Democrats once hated monopolies and loved free speech. Now they love monopolies and hate free speech.
My prediction is that you will hear nothing about anti-trust actions or ending the Section 230 carve-out.
Seems Big Tech and government should be natural enemies, but there is a way they can work together in sort of a Mutually Assured Destruction sort of scenario.

Let me explain how I see it.

Three terms we should consider in more depth are oligarchy, corporatism and fascism.
The latter term has been abused to the point it is a lot like the term “racism”, since it can mean anything, it virtually means nothing – but fascism, born in Italy under Mussolini, is a political regime that has totalitarian aspirations, an ideologically based on a relationship between business and the centralized government, business-and-government control of the market place, repression of criticism or opposition, a leader cult and exalting the state and/or religion above individual rights.

That last part describes corporatism.

Corporatism is an economic and/or political system in which power is exercised through large organizations – be it businesses, trade unions, or some other large group – working in concert or conflict with each other to influence the acts of government in order to advance their own agendas, often at the expense of the will of the people and to the detriment of the common good.

In America, that “corporate” effort, now that labor unions have receded in influence and power, involves mega-businesses like those that make up “Big Tech” (Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and others).

Oligarchy is a government run by only a few, often the wealthy. Today, those few are the Tech Oligarchs, the new version of Robber Barons.

As if we just witnessed a transporter glitch on the Starship Enterprise were Crewmen [crewpersons?] Joe Fascist, Alexandria Ocasio-Corporatist and Kamala Oligarch were dissolved to be sent to the surface of a new Class M planet and in the process, their DNA was combined into one Frankenstein-like being.
These three ideologies combined to form a single ideology – fascistic oligarchy (or oligarchical fascism, take your pick).

Either way, it is an incestuous relationship and is going to be a very tough nut to crack because even though theoretically, these groups should hate each other, this is a marriage made in hell, because neither party can exist without the other.

And therein lies their bond. It is truly that of Mutually Assured Destruction. Each will fight to the death to preserve the other.

That’s what we face.
