Do You STILL Believe We Are Not Traveling The Same Road As 1930’s Germany?

In the past, I have been attacked for comparing the path this nation is on to that traveled by 1930’s Germany.  I’ll probably be attacked by those same people for posting this piece, as well – BUT I DO NOT CARE!  I am right, I know it, and – if you’ll stop to notice – the people who attack me never dispute my facts, all they do is complain because they do not like having their position associated with the NAZI stigma.  SO, rather than explain where, how and why I am wrong in making my arguments, they attack me for “calling names.”  I’m sorry that these people have been so ill-educated by the system they have been trained to protect, but stating fact is not “name calling.”  What’s more, I no longer care about the protests of people who – because they have been intentionally ill-educated – do not know what they are talking about.  Since I was four, I have been studying the history of WW II, and for the past twelve years, it has been my profession.  I earn my living off my knowledge of this time period, and though it is on a minor level, I am still a nationally recognized authority on the time period – especially Germany.  So, if you are one of those who object when I point out that we are traveling the same road Germany traveled in the 1930’s: either prove me wrong with historic FACT, or shut up and listen.  You might actually learn something.

Have you seen this story?

Gov. Brown OKs funds to confiscate guns from criminals, mentally ill

SACRAMENTO — Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday signed legislation aimed at taking handguns and assault rifles away from 20,000 Californians who acquired them legally but have since been disqualified from ownership because of a criminal conviction or serious mental illness.

The measure, the first of several gun-related bills to reach the governor,  allocates $24 million in surplus funds to hire dozens of additional special agents to tackle a backlog of 40,000 weapons in the hands of people not allowed to possess firearms.

“This bipartisan bill makes our communities safer by giving law enforcement the resources they need to get guns out of the hands of potentially dangerous individuals,” said Evan Westrup, a spokesman for the governor.

How about this one?

Palm Beach County sheriff gets $1 million for violence prevention unit amid questions about civil liberties, care for mentally ill

Florida House and Senate budget leaders have awarded Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw $1 million for a new violence prevention unit aimed at preventing tragedies like those in Newtown, Conn., and Aurora, Colo., from occurring on his turf.

Bradshaw plans to use the extra $1 million to launch “prevention intervention” units featuring specially trained deputies, mental health professionals and caseworkers. The teams will respond to citizen phone calls to a 24-hour hotline with a knock on the door and a referral to services, if needed.

Now, do you remember the post Texas wrote:

Terrorist, defined by Administration? 7 April 2009

This is a real “flyer” disseminated to law enforcement agencies: currently hosted by the Federation of American Scientists.

You may be a “RIGHTWING EXTREMIST” (note: Rightwing extremist = TERRORIST) IF you believe:

  • an economic collapse is possible.

  • in the 2nd amendment and right to bear arms.

  • practice at the range with your shotgun or .22 lr

  • stockpiling arms, ammunition, food, etc.

  • don’t like the current President

  • against abortion

  • against illegal immigration

  • believe there is a loss of jobs in America

  • believe foreclosures are continuing

  • reject the concept of federal authority over state and local authority

OK, here is how these three stories are connected:

1 – Germany did not change by revolution: it was fundamentally transformed, slowly, through Progressive steps toward dictatorship.  Finally, after enough power had been obtained, a crisis was seized upon to slam the gates shut and take total control.  If you can manage to get yourself out of the box you live in and look at our current government objectively, you will see that all they are waiting for is the right crisis.

2 – Germany didn’t disarm its people as much as it restricted who was allowed to own weapons, and they did so to prevent anyone they deemed politically dangerous to the Party from having the means to resist when they took over.  They started by making a list of gun owners, then by continually restricting the people “allowed” to have weapons until that list eventually shrunk to those people believed most loyal to the Party.  If you look at what our government is doing now from this perspective, you will see they are already doing this.

3 – You must not allow differences in the specific application(s) of a principle to convince you they represent different agendas.  Look to the goal, not the technique being applied to achieve it.  The goal is to disarm the population so it cannot resist the government.  In Germany, it was based on political reliability.  In the U.S. today, it is based on political reliability and mental stability.  If you look, they are even being linked (i.e. vets with PTSD and TEA Party members = mentally unstable and potentially dangerous persons).

This is what these stories all have in place: they are establishing the story line that is going to be pushed as an excuse to take our weapons.  What’s more, they have already tested the waters to see if we will actually resist.  After Katrina, they succeeded in using the military to seize weapons.  The owners never got them back.  And the latest was in the unwarranted and un-Constitutional house-to-house searches in Boston.  Did you see the picture of the person looking out the window at the police/military (?) searching that white, two-story house?  Did you see the trooper in the HUMMV pointing his M-16 back at the person who took the picture?  Do you know that this is reminiscent of the Germans who used to fear to look out their windows when the NAZI’s were collecting people: for fear of joining those being collected because looking represented a threat to the government?

These are the steps toward Fascist tyranny.  Look at them and tell me what we are missing:

I’ll say this as plainly as I can:

IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE WE ARE TRAVELING THE SAME PATH AS 1930’s GERMANY, YOU ARE DENYING OBJECTIVE REALITY!

  1. If you would have made this any plainer to understand, we wouldn’t need to tell the blind or deaf about your history lesson. This is plan and sample, but the most handicap individuals will not get this lesson. They are to uneducated to understand and to dumb to do anything but watch the mailbox. They don’t care if the Germany phillosophy and mechanism are at work in the American government. America is on its way down, or the war is about to start?

    • Redfray,

The problem with most (not all) of those who think war is the answer is that too few understand the concept of a just war and how our founders followed it. It is the ONLY reason they succeeded, and, if we followed it again, we could succeed again. Unfortunately, it requires something too few will accept these days: repentance and blind faith and trust in God and God’s way. Anything less will result in handing the “enemy” the crisis he needs to justify the final clamp down and then the lights go out on man’s liberty until Christ returns to set things straight for all time.

        • I saw that, Boss, and I fear that the enemies of liberty will be handed the opportunity they are looking for by people who mean well but do not understand the foundation upon which liberty must be built if it is to stand, nor that they have the leadership necessary to teach them with the time we have left…

          • I agree. I saw this story today, and found it to be the scariest article I found today (except the one from the blaze about the police taking a baby from its parents because they wanted a 2nd doctor’s opinion on heart surgery). Too few people realize the trap they are falling prey to, and that armed revolution will destroy our country, not heal it. We have to change it culturally, and within the legal framework otherwise I believe it will all be lost.

              • Understood, but the country we love will be dead if that happens. I fear that is the only truly viable solution at this point but it is heartbreaking, and I will not abandon my attempts to change the culture one person at a time, and one law at a time. I really enjoy your TRTC blog, it is weighty stuff so I don’t comment much over there because I generally have to go do research after your articles (thanks public education) to know what the heck I’m talking about. Keep up the good work!

    • Wow, 3 years, an NRA-funded law suit and then hoops to jump through just to get something back that was legally theirs and you think it’s all “no harm, no foul.”

Greg, you would sell your children to save yourself. I am ashamed to call you countryman.

NOTE: as I have read it, not all these weapons were returned. Supposedly, they were stored in a building that subsequently flooded and the paper work attached to the weapons identifying their owners was ruined. It was reported in the news at the time. Now, if this was a lie by the government to avoid having to give these weapons back, then this is further tyranny on top of tyranny. But if it is true, then most of the weapons being returned are — by now — useless due to corrosion: in which case, it is tyranny upon tyranny. Anyone who would dismiss this is not a son of liberty, but of tyranny.

      • You said the guns were never returned, I pointed out that they were, you lash out like a wounded baboon. You just hate being wrong, don’t you?

  2. Yes, there are parallels to Nazi Germany, Herr Bakanovic, and you and your pseudo-religious ilk are the brown-shirts,and the Muslims are the Jews. If anyone is going to do any rounding up of citizens, it will nativistic thugs herding musims into camps, and women suspected of having abortions being forced to undergo medical exams to prove their innocence.

    • Greg, you’re in utter denial of reality. Our govt. is not going after ANY of those people. In fact, we can’t call an Islamic terrorist attack in Ft Hood a terrorist attack because it was “workplace violence,” but that same military is now thinking about court martialling military chaplains who do what chaplains do: preach their Gospel.

No one is rounding up Muslims, or even seriously talking about it — not in govt. But they ARE talking about moving against vets, Christians and TEA Party members.

So, if you want to find a Brownshirt, FIND A FRIGGIN’ MIRROR!

      • you are a little hitler, in his beer hall Puscht period. The situation I describe is what happens should you goons ever gain power.

        • I have never advocated any restrictions to your rights and liberty. You HAVE done so toward me and those like me — REPEATEDLY!

Want to find a “little Hitler?” GRAB THE NEAREST MIRROR!

Folks, Greg is the epitome of the 180 degree rule.

          • 180-degree rule= think of a child saying “I am rubber, you are glue…”

Joe, you act and sound like a little fascist. Mussolini and Hitler needed a whipping boy upon whom to blame their respective nation’s woes. They used jews, gypsies and gays. You prefer Muslims as the target of your nastiness, influenced as you are by Glenn Beck, and your other target, just like a good commie, is the intelligentsia. You can’t stand having anyone as smart as James or Karl debate you; they destroy your arguments, make you look and act less professorial than your needy ego requires.
