Racism: 24/7/365

Racism is alive in America. Thanks to Colbert King at the Washington Post, we know this to be a fact – because as he states, there are racial slurs being used in conversations on social media about Obama:

Moody found that many Facebook hate pages also focused on cultural narratives. Some photos depict Obama or his family as animals, particularly apes. One picture showed male and female apes holding an infant ape with Obama’s face superimposed on it.

Tasteless. Disrespectful.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Last month, a 21-year-old Miami college student was sentenced to three years’ probation for posting threats against Obama on Facebook.

Read his Feb. 21 posting: “Who wants to help assassinate Obummer while hes at UM this week?”

On Feb. 23, the day Obama spoke at his school, the student wrote: “If anyone going to UM to see Obama today, get ur phones out and record. Cause at any moment im gonna put a bullet through his head and u don’t wanna miss that? Youtube!”

And just so you know, apparently noticing that Michelle Obama is fat is also racist – this according to The Atlantic– doesn’t matter that Mobama’s “do as I say, not as I do health crusade”, makes her own adherence to such a program relevant.

In the Post article, Mr. King asks:

How many like the Mecklenburg Republicans and this college student assassin-wannabe are out there?

What are they going to do on Election Day?

More important, what are you going to do?

It seems that Mr. King is demanding that people vote for Obama simply because he is black and there are some whites who are racist. Are there white people who voted against Obama because he is black…you bet there are. Are there black people who voted for him because he is black…that answer is a provable “yes” as well.

If voting against a candidate solely due to his race is racist, isn’t supporting a candidate purely due to his race actually, you know, also racist by definition?

If we are going to examine racism against Obama, we have to also examine black racism…

Well, Mr. King only needs to go to the website of the New Black Panther Party and have a look at what is there on their Twitter feed. Some will say that the NBPP doesn’t represent all blacks but as long as Stormfront – as alluded to in the Atlantic article I linked to above ( I won’t link to the morons as Stormfront, google them if you like) – is trotted out to smear whites, referencing the NBPP is just as legitimate because Stormfront does not speak for the majority of whites either. Just as Stormfront seeks a “white” nation, the NBPP seeks a “black” nation.

He also should listen carefully to the sermons of Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan.

As far as disparaging imagery and threats being unique to this President, his memory is also perilously limited.

Mr. King so easily forgets that there was actually a so called “high concept” made in 2006, during Bush’s second term, that fantasized about his assassination.  As far as death threats to Bush, these were common themes of protests during his administration as chronicled at Zomblog  here, as were images of Bush being beheaded, hanged or as Hitler or a chimp – just google “images of Bush as Hitler” and “images of Bush as a monkey” and you can see the public displays for yourself.  I guess Mr. King also forgets the “Kill Bush” tee shirts that CafePress had to take off their website…

In Mr. King’s logic the same caricatures must be interpreted as more offensive simply due to the race of the person caricatured, i.e. Bush as a chimp = acceptable political protest, Obama as a chimp = racist.

Colbert King engages in the most cynical form of racism, that Obama is being judged on his race rather than his performance and it is impossible for any other condition to be true. If he fails, it is because he is black; therefore if he succeeds, it must follow that it is because he is black. He is not to be judged on his merits and faults because he is shielded by race.

This is not a tu quoque argument to excuse racism – if we are going to examine racism as it applies to Obama, by all means, let’s examine it – but if the liberal contingent are going to use it as a balm to cure all political ills, a tool to delegitimize all political differences, then the discussion isn’t really about racism, is it?

For some liberals, all things related to Obama are relegated to race because of his race. When he loses on November 6th, the defeat will be because he is black, not because he is a failure. The left must rationalize this in terms that they can understand because they cannot accept the truth that their policies are failures.

Everything is about race whether it is or not – just ask Chris Matthews at MSNBC.

As Mr. King laments:

Ah, life in post-racial America.

Indeed.

  1. Isn’t it funny how Obama’s African DNA makes him black, but his white DNA doesn’t make him white? And I wonder how many half-breeds voted for him on that basis?

Obama is not the first ‘black’ president, he is the first non-white president. Going strictly by racial origin(s), Obama represents the hopes and dreams of less than 5% of Americans.

We mongrels await a time in America when we can walk down the street without folks marveling at our handsome features and flawless olive skin.

Myself, I long for the day when an Italian/Irish/English ( the mix must be 25%/37.5%/37.5%) President represents my people. We mongrels tire of the argument that, if one of us were to be elected to the Oval Office, that he would then take his orders from Tiger Woods. That is a preposterous assumption; Tiger has Asian blood.

    • Speak for yourself, G.! This German/French/English/Irish/Scottish girl clearly sees that it would be a disaster having an Italian/Irish/English boy in office. Now, an Italian/Irish/English girl would be perfectly fine……. everyone knows they’re all conservative.

    • “Isn’t it funny how Obama’s African DNA makes him black, but his white DNA doesn’t make him white?”

Actually Greg … his genetics is half and half, but then you toss in the white raising by his grandmother, and you have a man who is 66.66% white, and 33.33% black.

Maybe you should remind him of that for the next time he goes to write a book, or start parading around professing to be all things, to all people based on his need of the moment.

      Good day. 🙂

  2. remember when Obama was going to unite all Americans? He was the “One” you know. This is what happens when you divide people into this and that and play both against each other. That way you really don’t have to accomplish anything you promise to anybody….ever.

    • Obama did not do the dividing, the republicans did,…

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell explained that “the single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”
Not balance the budget, not end the conflict in the middle east, not bring our soldiers home from Afghanistan, not work on getting more Americans working and off the dole, but “the single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”

You should not have put all your eggs in one basket, Mitch.

      • And Harry Reid did not do much better for Obummer by getting the Senate to vote 99-0. 97-0, 97-0 for each of Obama’s “budget proposals”.

No Greg, McConnell does want Obama out because of skin color … though that is desperately what you wish. But that’s your platitude Greg, no his, mine, or anyone else that I know personally.

The reason McConnell wants that idiot out of the office is because he sucks as a leader. He cannot even consolidate his own god damned political base … much less begin to start something sincerely bipartisan.

True, Utah. And I assume you’ll remember this the next time you’re tempted to make a silly blanket statement about Democrats or Progressives–I appreciate the “some liberals” reference above.

“When he loses on November 6th the defeat will be because he is black, not because he is a failure. The left must rationalize this in terms that they can understand because they cannot accept the truth that their policies are failures.”

And for some conservatives, when he wins on November 6th, as is more likely, the victory will be because he is black, not because he is iewed as the better person for the job. The right must rationalize this in terms that they can understand because they cannot accept the truth that their ideas and previous policies are failures.

    • Interesting how a substantial majority of Americans of all races, more than 65%, think that most racism remaining in the US resides within the African American community. I don’t observe much racist behavior by any group in my day-to-day business, but racial violence today is primarily Black-on-White rather than the reverse, and Black mob violence against Whites is both common and often takes the form of torture and rape before murder. This pattern has been under-reported and the facts have been suppressed by the Holder DOJ, but they are convincingly documented in books like WHITE GIRL BLEED A LOT, and elsewhere. Although most African Americans are solid citizens, young Black males commit a shockingly high percentage of violent crimes in America, which is why sensible people, White and Black, take precautions in their presence. While race relations are infinitely better than they were in my youth, people like Our Dear Leader, AG Holder and Oprah Winfrey are having a polarizing effect on our society, especially on younger Americans, that is unnecessary and unfortunate. The Reverends Sharpton, Jackson and other race hustlers are even worse. But on balance we have progressed tremendously, despite media efforts to enflame emotions when White (or Hispanic) on Black crime occasionally does take place. Unless Barack Hussein Obama succeeds in setting back race relations in America, which would benefit him and his Party, our grandchildren should enjoy lives wonderfully free of racial animus. May it be so! CDE

  4. What about the poor folk who cannot afford Marquees? You one-percenters, with all your excess marquees, should be re-distrbuting them, at least until Wal-Mart comes up with a crappy knock-off marquee built by wage slaves in Bhutan. And don’t even get me started on throw pillows.
