White House press secretary Jay Carney on Thursday said President Barack Obama did briefly stay with his illegal immigrant uncle while attending Harvard Law School in the 1980s.

This is a contradiction of what the White House told reporters in 2011, asserting Obama did not know his uncle.

“Back when this arose, folks looked at the record, including the president’s book, and there was no evidence that they had met and that was what was conveyed,” Carney told reporters. “Nobody spoke to the president.”

They didn’t think to ask the President where he was when the question was asked – there was just no evidence. What a crock of shite…

It’s not this that really bothers me. It is the fact that the flow of lies is constant. There are lies about inconsequential things, lies about obscure family details, lies about where he was and when he was there, lies of omission and lies of commission.

They all add up to something very, very consequential.

The President of the United States is a liar. Proven, public and documented.

If he lies to his own people, then he lies to himself. He cannot be trusted by anyone, friend or enemy, foreign or domestic.

Trust is the currency that leaders deposit in the bank – it is the currency that they trade in – not just in the bestowing of trust but in the earning of it as well because trust is ultimately earned, not given. Leaders value those who trust them and place special value on those in whom they have invested their trust. Trust is earned from others by incorporating, and living, honesty as a core value in their lives, relationships and professional identity.

Friedrich Nietzsche said that:

“The most common lie is that which one lies to himself; lying to others is relatively an exception.”

Perhaps the most destructive aspect of working with a liar is that, in order to survive, those around him must lie as well. They delude themselves in to believing – or excusing – the lies to continue to function.

But eventually, the consumption of the lies eats them alive.

True leaders never ask or expect people to lie for them. This president is a disgrace and an abomination to the Office.

True leaders also believe that all people have excellence inherent in them and it is their duty and responsibility to see that it emerges. No matter the level of the task, the challenge of the moment, or the difficulty of the situation, the charge of a leader is to help the people around them be better able to succeed through their leadership and facilitation of their efforts toward accomplishing shared visions, goals and objectives.

Our president is a liar. To turn our heads from his perfidy makes us complicit in his sin. The only honorable path is to oppose him at every turn.
