President Obama opened a full-frontal assault on Tuesday on the federal budget adopted by House Republicans, condemning it as a “Trojan horse” that would greatly deepen inequality in the United States, and painting it as the manifesto of a party that has swung radically to the right.

Warning against what he said would be severe cuts to college scholarships, medical research, national parks, and even technology to make accurate weather forecasts, Mr. Obama said the Republican budget was “so far to the right, it makes the Contract With America” — Newt Gingrich’s legislative manifesto of 1994 — “look like the New Deal.”

Sheriff Slow Joe Biden says we are out to kill policemen and firefighters (via The Lonely Conservative):

“There’s one thing we know: the more cops on the street, the fewer cops get killed. The more firefighters responding to a fire, the fewer injuries to the firefighters, because you have each other’s backs,” Biden said.

We just can’t cut any more, Obama sez…

“I’m proposing some difficult cuts that, frankly, I wouldn’t normally make if they weren’t absolutely necessary,” Obama said in remarks at Northern Virginia Community College in suburban Washington. “What that allows us to do is to invest in the things that will help grow our economy right now. We can’t cut back on those things that are important for us to grow. We can’t just cut our way into growth.”

We just have to raise taxes to pay for necessary things like this:

$860K a year so that Leon Panetta can fly home to California on the weekends.

$820K for the GSA to throw a party for itself in Vegas.

Several billions of dollars (yes, that is billions with a “b”) of wasted money for “green” companies.

But there will be people who believe him because he said so:

Under the latest move in his “We Can’t Wait” campaign — which seeks to castigate Congress for not moving faster on boosting the economy — Obama signed a measure aimed at cutting waste and promoting “more efficient spending” across the federal government.

Obama isn’t stupid (Biden probably is) but he thinks that Americans are – at least he hopes the people planning to vote for him are.
