“Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”
I have now had several close friends question my stance on my comparison of modern America to 1930’s Germany. In some cases, I think my friends simply do not believe the comparison is accurate. I don’t think they see it. However, in most cases, I understand that they think I am alienating myself: losing potential audience by taking too strong of a stance. They believe the stigma of NAZI Germany is too ostracizing, and that I turn people off by using it. I understand that my friends’ reasoning, and that their advice is born of love and concern. They think I could be more effective if I moderate my message and my stance because I will reach more people. Sadly, I just can’t do that.
The older I get, the more I seek the truth (as best any man can find and understand it), and the truth is, the closest modern comparison to what is happening in the United States today is found in the history of 1930’s Germany. In large part, this is because the people who led Germany down the road into darkness held the same general ideology and goals as those who are leading America down that path today. The American Progressive movement was born of the same general movement that spawned the Fascist movement. But we do not realize this today because we do not know our history. And we do not know history because Progressives have erased it as part of their method for attaining their goals. So, if I were to take my friends’ advice and avoid the connection between modern America and 1930’s Germany, I would actually be helping the evil that has been leading us down the path to darkness.
If I were to explain modern America in terms of 1930’s Germany without actually voicing the connection, too few would recognize the real picture I was painting because too few know and understand the picture. Seriously, how many people still think Fascism is a form of “Right-wing” government? It isn’t. But try to explain that to people and see how far you get. So, if the majority of Americans do not know that NAZI means national socialists, and that this makes Fascism a Left-wing government, why would I or should I expect them to know that, in the 1930’s, FDR openly admired Mussolini and Hitler? And how could I possibly expect anyone to know that the NAZI’s openly admitted they got the majority of their ideas from the Woodrow Wilson Administration and the American Progressives/Fabian Socialists?
This is why I refuse to budge in my position. Not only do I have to explain to people that our nation is traveling the same road as 1930’s Germany, but I have to teach them about the real history of 1930’s Germany. I am fighting decades of misinformation and indoctrination. I cannot do that if I avoid the issue at hand. I must deal with that issue directly, head-on. But then, I also have to follow my conscience and hold to the truth, and the truth here is that we are traveling the road into darkness. It may manifest itself in different ways, but the principles, the basic steps in that road toward darkness are the same today as they were in the 1930’s, and in the early 1900’s and all the way back to Babylon.
But there is one more reason I cannot and will not budge in my position. I do not care if I chase off a large potential audience because I make them feel uncomfortable. Tough! Ultimately, what we are discussing here is evil. Well, I am a child of the Truth and the Light, not darkness, and the Light came not to unite but to separate father and son, mother and daughter. I will not be ashamed to speak the truth s He has given it to me. I will stand on the wall and warn those who will hear, and explain it to those who will listen. Those who will not listen are beyond my ability to reach. That is His job. All I can do, all I know to do is to speak the truth, to share what I have learned and what I see and to pray that it is enough to reach those I was intended to reach. As for the rest… well, they are not my concern. I’m just a servant, not the Master, and standing where I am standing is what the Master has told me to do.
